Scarlet fever?!

My son was acting weird for a few days, really super fussy and had a slight fever. Then he started to get this rash on his neck a few nights ago. By the next morning it was all over his face and body, spreading to his arms and legs! We took him into immediate care because of it, it was getting bright red!! He was also just getting fussier, it seemed. We had given him some Tylenol and it helped him sleep, but something wasn't right.
Turned out he had scarlet fever!! I hadn't heard of it since I was in school and they told us about the outbreak of it killing people. So of course, I was kind of in shock. Then he told us it wasn't a huge deal anymore, and he would just have to take amoxicilin for 10 days, 3x a day. So he's on day 3, will have to take his last dose in a couple more hours before bedtime. His rash is almost gone and he's in a much, much better mood!
But on top of the scarlet fever, he had a dual ear infection! I feel so bad that we didn't take him in sooner. We just moved back to live with my SO's family so we thought he was just unhappy about the move. I'm glad he's getting better now though
