When I dropped Cameron off at daycare today he sat down in a W position. His teacher said "you shouldn't sit like that" and moved his legs out. It got me thinking a bit wondering if sitting that way is a problem. Does anyone know about this?
Thanks ladies!!! I am typically a CTFD type of gal but had a moment of stress. You are all right. He moves a ton and doesn't sit still for too long so I think he will survive. Thanks again!!!
My nephew was sitting like that (he is almost 2) and his pedi told my SIL & BIL they needed to correct it (I.e. sit with his legs in front) I'm not 100% sure why but my BIL said something about it creating a weak core.
Our PT doesn't like that either, but it's an easy fix - just pull his legs under his bottom so he's sitting on them. We have to force him into that position a lot to encourage hand-knee crawling.
I was sitting like that all the time when I was a child and my son was sitting like that a lot when he was a baby. I checked with pedi back then and he said it is not the best position because it is hard on joints but no big deal...
