At 32 weeks, my baby was measuring 35 weeks....and at a following up ultrasound at 37 weeks, he was about 7lbs 12oz already and had a head measuring 40 weeks and a tummy in the 95th percentile! I'm 38 weeks now, I keep getting warned by my Dr that I may need c section because at this rate were looking at a near 10 lb baby if I go to 40 weeks. I'm terrified. If I try a natural delivery there is a risk of his shoulders getting stuck. I'm also considering that the ultrasound could be wrong, as they are notoriously wrong this late in pregnancy. Any personal stories out there??? Just interested...
Re: BIG baby and fears
good luck and you will get through t either way!
I saw mine on Wednesday, and she said that she's starting to think that this may be a big baby. That she's out of the office next week, and when she gets back the week of the 16th, if I haven't gone into labor on my own, we'll do a u/s to check size (and then stated she doesn't like to do that because they can be wrong) and if the u/s shows big, and the fundal height shows big, she'll give me the option to induce so I can try to stick to my med-free birth plan before going straight to a planned C/S.
just talk to your OB
( I know its not always the case but I don't think about it)
Assuming that your u/s is actually correct, keep in mind, you can do it!!
I did have a tear and my dr. did a small episiotomy but a wk out and I feel fine down there. So it can be done. Don't let your dr. scare you into a c section if you don't want one.
I'm 5'2 and small framed and baby measured 8.5 lbs. on an ultrasound early this week. If we go to the scheduled induction date on Tuesday, he could be in the 9 lb. range.
I'm just saving my pennies for a vaginaplasty now.
A good friend just delivered Monday - they told her to be prepared for a 9+ lb baby and he was less than 7.
