Any other moms out there still running? This is my fourth baby but first since I've gotten into running. I'm a little nervous about it being so early in the pregnancy but I've cut back my mileage considerably.
I'm planning on running still. I was only at 6 miles 3-4 times a week before my BFP so it's not like I was doing anything crazy. I'm hoping to do a minimum of 3 miles 3 times a week depending how I feel but hopefully keep doing 5-6 when I feel up to it.

I'm hoping to run throughout pregnancy as well. I usually stick to low mileage and plan to do 2-3 miles 2-4 times a week. I was very nervous at first but finally went for a short run on Monday. Felt great! Still a little nervous tho...I've had friends run thru a good portion of their pregnancy and one who ran her entire pregnancy.
Thanks ladies that makes me feel better about it. Obviously the Tough Mudder is out this year. HA! But I'll keep up the running. I may supplement with some swimming too.
I LOVED the TM, it was a blast. Definitely not for the pregnant ladies though haha. My hubby would prefer I sit in bed and do nothing. I may go back to yoga too.
I asked my OB yesterday about running. I was up to 4-7 miles 3 times during the week and 13 +/- miles on Saturday. She told me not be running my 13 milers, but 2-3 would be fine. I'm a little nervous to run at all... I may just walk 2-3 miles a day. It will take longer, but make me feel better, and hopefully I won't get as anxious about something going wrong!
I started doing the C25K in July after our last loss. I really think that running and eating a more balanced whole foods diet has made such a difference for me physically and emotionally. I plan to keep running about 3 miles 3 times per week as long as I can. I'm also getting back to yoga. Of course I will talk with my midwife further about this at our first appointment. I had GD with DD's pregnancy so I know it will be important for me to stay active throughout this one.
I ran (waddled) through my last successful pregnancy, but I had a m/c a few months ago. Now I am scared! I know it had nothign to do with running, but so hard not to just want to put yourself in a bubble until things are all good.
I just run 5K and I've tried a couple runs since finding out but felt so tired while running. This last week I was so exhausted I haven't gone at all. I'm laid out on the couch by 4 pm.
I was signed up for a half marathon which is next week...I've trained well all summer but have fallen behind since our BFP- now nervous to push myself...my husband keeps reminding me nows not the time...I guess he's right?
@brittanysommar, I totally feel for you. I qualified for the nyc marathon by running 10 races last year and now that I'm pregnant I can't run it. Very disappointing as its on my bucket list to does, but definitely not worth the risk.
My doctor said that I can continue to run but not more than 5 miles or so as I'm an avid runner. As for the marathons she said if I'm not a marathon runner and my body isn't used to that type of running, she would not recommend even attempting it.
I'm not a runner, more like a slow plodder/jogger. Doc last time said I could keep it up throughout pregnancy but I dropped down to walking. Takes longer but it just felt better to my body.
If you are used to high mileage, and you are listening to your body and staying hydrated/not overheating, I don't know why your doctor would give you a limit of X amount of miles to run...that just seems silly to me. Unless you're high risk and the doctor has a reason for you not to continue normally, I would run any race you are already capable of, just know it's going to be slower and you're going to need to drink more to stay hydrated. My doctor was very supportive (and encouraging) of me continuing to run during my last pregnancy. You just have to know your body and listen to it. I had intended to run my entire pregnancy, but it got too uncomfortable for me in the 3rd tri to run at all. I was disappointed, since some women run up until birth all the time, but my body said no.
Maybe I should've clarified, I told my doctor that on my average runs I do about 3-5 miles about 4 times a week, which is why she said to stay within my average range and not decide that now is the time to over exert myself during pregnancy.
I actually paused my running when going through treatments as asked by my re. I am still pg this time but I hope to pick it up again soon...just a few miles here and there. Sad I won't be able to use my roctane

Ladies! Just went to TJMAXX and half of their active wear was on major clearance!! I raaaaided it!! I love the shorts they have with the little zipper pouch on the back to store my house key
Lurking from April (bc I'll probably deliver in May)...
@awknyc will they allow you to defer? it's an amazing race to run (ran it in 2011), but it's also great to volunteer at. I didn't sign up for a marathon this year bc we were ttc, but I'll be volunteering at the NYC marathon.
my midwife never told me to cut down my mileage, but just be wary of the intensity. I make sure I can hold a conversation. So obviously no tempo or speedowrk. I get winded easier now as well, and as a result my talking pace has gone from 8:30 to about 9:30-10. However, I still run 6-8 miles 3x a week and a couple of 3-5 milers a week. Most importantly, I run with a bottle of water and near public restrooms!
I am a huge runner and have already cut back. The weekend we conceived I ran 40 miles in a 24hr period while training for an ultra marathon. The ultra is 9/29 so I won't be doing that...I feel it is too risky. I plan to continue running 3 miles throughout the week and 7-10 miles on the wkend as long as I feel up to it.
What an amazing group of running mommas! @mdarmetko I hear ya on the running by public restrooms! I've planned several routes around where I can go to the restroom!
Everyone keep up the great work and here's to keep some mileage if not our pace
i was able to run until the day i went into labor with my first pregnancy... definitely, some days were better than others (like the days when i had to stop to pee 19 times or the days when ligaments pulling started to make everything feel funky). my mileage was never huge, but i managed 3ish miles 3-4x a week until the very end. this may be an illusion, but i think the exercise really helped me feel good throughout my pregnancy, and i was back to running (slowly!) about 2 weeks after my baby was born.
if you think you'd like to run deeper into your pregnancy, one thing i recommend checking out is a support belt (mine was gabrialla brand) - made a HUGE difference in my comfort level from about 5.5 months on.
Just got my BFP a couple days ago. Was signed up for my fifth half marathon on Oct 12 but not sure about it. Feel so slow and winded on 'easy' 3 milers. MIght skip it and just try for 20 miles a week for as long as possible?

I'm so encouraged by everyone!
