Tues was DH's first time to take DS to OT and they worked with food. It apparently was a nightmare and DS refused to comply. Current goal is to get him to chew a carrot 5x before spitting it out for a reward of a preferred food. I felt bad that DH got the "bad" appt since DS has been doing really well and getting only mildy frustrated over dressing activities when I've gone with him. Today, I finally found out a month after starting OT therapy that our appts are $211.05/per appt after the discount on our insurance since I have a high deductible plan. Yuck. I sort of thought it might be in the range of $100-150 since his whole OT eval only cost us $255 when they had originally said it would be around $500.
We are seeing an OT through a large Children's hospital here, would seeing an outside OT possibly be cheaper? I don't think DS would qualify for services through the school district. I dont' know I need to find what I did with his report of findings from the OT and look it over again. We can handle it for now but if it gets extended past his current 4 month plan, I'm not sure how much longer we could afford it.
Re: Update on OT
I will say, though, we have had a few therapists that didn't connect with DD, so IMHO an good therapist can be invaluable. We got lucky that our least expensive option worked out to be a great fit.
