April 2013 Moms

Would you be mad....

So my SO's niece wanted to come over and baby sit today since she has not seen DD in a while. His niece is only 16 but she is very mature and i totally trust her to handle the baby. So yesterday i called my mom ( whom normally watches DD) and told her to take the day off. Fast forward to this morning and she is late which in turn made me late as well. Then she decided ( without consulting me) that she would take DD over to my MIL house. My MIL lives about 20 mins away in a  cab. I guess i'm just annoyed at the fact that she did not even ask me for permission. I mean its MY child. well  Apparently she spoke with my SO and he gave her the ok but never mentioned it to me either. Ughhh so annoying. I mean i don't want to over react and seem like the crazy bitch mom who is over possessive buttttt, it's my baby. Like how dare you!  I feel like ripping someone a new one.

Re: Would you be mad....

  • Uh. Yes. And I would be more upset for SO for being nonchalant about it and not running it by you first.

  • @gracious1014 exactly my point. he seems to think that its no big deal and that i am over reacting. He doesnt get it. He asked me "if i was on my period" UGHHHHHHHHHHH i feel like strangling him
  • so i guess i would be a BITCH if i told my niece not to do it again and to ask for permission next time .....

I personally would be annoyed & had this happen. My MIL took the baby to the DMV last week for my SIL to take her permit test, she let my SIL drive them. I don't feel comfortable with a 17 yo new driver who doesn't have a license driving my child around.

Oh my gosh this is SO not okay!

  • @tondraluv that is very unsafe I would be pissed at that too. I feel like men just dont get it.

No they do not, which is why I remind my husband that he has gotten into major accidents and my ten years of driving I have not had one accident... I haven't even been pulled over (mainly cause I watch like a hawk and luck lol)

  • I'd be pissed at SO, not her... she got permission from a parent. Dog House. Seriously.

  • I agree with skidderdo. And, no matter how mature, no sixteen year old is taking my LO out of the house. Shame on H for allowing that and not saying anything to you

Unfortunately If you want to rip a new one, you have to rip your husband a new one -- she asked, he said yes.  Not her fault.

  • yep! my mom, MIL, sister and babysitter know they are not allowed to take LO in a car yet unless extreme emergency.  He just doesn't need to be out. If they need to run errands, they shouldn't agree to babysit that day.

An so i don't sound like a complete crazy, will probably be ok with my mom. MIL and sister at 6 mos, but the babysitter(s) may be awhile.
