Transition from 2U2 to 3U3..

For those who have 3U3, how do you compare the transition when you went from 1 to 2U2?  DS2 is only 7 weeks, but hubby and I are trying to figure out our "long term plan".. though ideally we'd like to space them out more than 12 months this time (we're hoping closer to 18months), I've also decided not to go on any hormonal BC, which means, there's always a chance.. I'm just curious to hear how you found your transition to 3U3 as opposed to 2U2.. DS1 was a colicky baby.. SO difficult.. it's only now after having DS2 that I"m realizing just how hard DS1 was!  But, DS2 isn't colicky.. he's clingy, loves to be held, not really a fan of being put down.. but, he's not screaming all. day. long. like DS1 used to.. it's really made the transition to 2U2 pretty smooth.. DS1 has been excellent -- he was still very high needs before DS2 was born, and I was concerned.. but, it's like he realizes I'm sometimes busy with DS2 and he's perfectly content playing and entertaining himself.. anyway, with the thought of 3U3 in our minds already, I'm just curious what to expect.. the thought of being outnumbered scares me.. right now it's very easy for one of us to take care of DS1 and the other DS2!

Our plan was 3u3 - we started TTC#3 when #2 was 11 months old.  But it took almost 10 months to get a sticky BFP, so we ended up with 3- 3 and under instead.

I won't lie - It was ROUGH.  I was like you - 2u2 wasn't bad for me.  DS was a tough baby, but DD#1 was super easy.  Sure there were times when both were crying, but they were very manageable.  DD could sleep anywhere, with any noise at all, and was STTN by 10 weeks.  But with 3, someone ALWAYS needs something.  All day long I am saying "hold on a minute, I am (wiping someone's bum, changing someone's diaper, feeding the baby, etc)"  And DD#2 is over 9 months now and I have had only one night that they have all slept through the night.  The nice thing is that DS was a few months away from being 4 and DD was 2.5 when the baby was born.  They played SO nicely together, and were very excited to help me out.  They also were in pre-school 3 mornings a week during the winter/spring, which was nice for me to have some alone time with the baby/run errands with only one kid.

As #3 is getting bigger, though, it is getting better.  She has more of a schedule/routine now, and LOVES her big siblings.  It is so cute when they all play together!

Good luck!  I have heard different things - some say going from 1-2 is worse, others 2-3 is worse.  For me it was definitely from 2-3, but you never know until you try!

Going from 1 kid to 2 wasn't nearly as bad as I expected it to be. We had a smooth transition to 2 kids. Going to 3 was more of a roller coaster for the first year. But of course I couldn't imagine not having #3 around and it's all been worth it. Even with the ups and downs, it was much harder being pregnant with two young kids, than having 3u3.
