My Appointment

So my appointment today didn't go as well as I had hoped. He did an u/s and it shows that I'm measuring 5w2d. There was a gestational sac and a fetal pole but no embryo or heartbeat. According to LMP, I should be 6w1d, although I did ovulate on CD15. But still, not overly encouraging that I'm measuring almost a week behind. I go back next Thursday for a follow up.

And of course there was someone in the waiting room that we know, with her huge pregnant belly. She just had a baby in March 2012 and I didn't even know she was pg again. So the whole time we were waiting, while I was a ball of nerves, all I could think of was how much I hate fertile women. Ugh.

So that's that. Anyone want to share any pretty encouraging stories with me? I know it's not over yet but I'm really having a hard time holding onto hope. I just for once wanted to have a good u/s where we left feeling happy.

Well this isn't exactly the same but I have a friend who just underwent IVF and her betas weren't doubling at all (I think she had to get them taken like 4 times before they got a doubling number), they were only going up like 30% or something each time she went, but she just had her NT scan and everything looks great and she is now over 12 weeks. She had given up hope completely and look at her now! So I am not giving up hope for you either, especially with how early it is! Fingers crossed everything looks great at the next appointment!

((((hugs)))) I hope next Thursday brings better news! I know my RE wouldn't even do an u/s before 7w because he said it was too inconclusive. He made me wait even though I begged for an earlier one, so while I absolutely understand how you feel, try not to put all your eggs in this ultrasound's basket. Sending lots of growing baby vibes!

I was measuring a whole 2 weeks from what I thought and at the first u/s we saw the sac and the fetal pole (I was so relieved about the fact that it was in ute and not ectopic that the date didn't concern me). The next u/s a week later the little bean was growing just fine and we saw and heard a perfect little heartbeat. My fingers and toes are still crossed that we get the same news at the next u/s in 2 weeks. So, don't let the dates throw you off, my dr. says that a 6 day range in size and measurements is perfectly acceptable this early on. FX that you get good news at your next u/s!

I'm so sorry you didn't have a good ultrasound ((HUGS)) I really hope things turn around for you the next time.

When I went in for my first ultrasound at 6 weeks, 4 days I measured 5 weeks, 6 days. If she moved the wand around enough and tried REALLY hard, she could get it to 6 weeks. When the baby is that small, it's very hard to get an accurate reading. I went in again at 7 weeks, 5 days and measured 7 weeks, 2 days. Then I had another ultrasound at 11 weeks, 2 days and measured 11 weeks, 6 days.

I'm sorry things didn't go as planned. If it weren't for my u/s tech checking again I would've been in your same shoes. She gave a second look though and found a slow heartbeat that two weeks later was 185.
