3D ultrasounds

My doctor doesn't do 3D ultrasounds, I was wondering for those who have them, is it worth spending $150 to go to a place to get pictures?

I wouldn't pay it, but DH and I are cheap.

I did it with my first and am doing it again with this one.  With my first, I didn't care about the cost but this time around I got a groupon and it was only $37.  I am excited to have one again, but I don't know if I would have spent as much money as I did before.

We are on the fence, spend the 50 and up on a u/s when we have one every two-four weeks or take that money and spend it on diapers :( Part of me wants it then the other part is like eh you have like 20 u/s pics lol

There is a local medical college where I live that needed volunteers in or past their 2nd trimester to get students training to be ultrasound techs used to the 3D equipment and taking measurements. It was very intimate with just the teacher and 1 student, they took a ton of pics and put them on a disk for me. I LOVED looking at the 3D pics and actually learned some things myself as the teacher was teaching, but I wouldn't have paid a place to get them done. The 3D pics are really neat but if I weren't getting the pics for free I wouldn't have gone anywhere to get them done.

Any Boston moms want info about getting free 3D ultrasounds, message me and I'll give you the info to volunteer.

Hahaha same!! And I've gotten good shots of my little girls face so I'm pretty happy with my pics! I just didn't see spending extra money unless lots of moms thought it was just one of those experiences you don't wanna go without

Not worth it IMO. You'll meet the baby soon enough!

My doctor has the 3D ultra sound machine. They charge $10.00 if you want the pictures/and to email them. I did this for our 20 week ultra sound, not sure if i'll do it again, but it is nice to have the 3d pictures printed. We are able to see the 3D just don't get it unless we pay the $10.00

Our hospital does them for anyone 27+weeks for $25.00. If they didn't offer this, I would be waiting a few more weeks and saving the $150.00 for more newborn pictures..they are way cuter, anyway.

I would totally do it if it were only $10!  I planned on it this time but now that I'm thinking about it, I'll probably save myself the money.  I had a 3/D with DD and it was pretty awesome.  My mom paid for it and went with DH & I (our wedding anniversary gift) and I got a printed photo and a disc.  It's $125 at my healthcare facility and you have to be 26 weeks+ and have already had a normal A/S.

We did not last time nor this time.  With our regular ultrasounds, we got some pretty awesome details on what DS looked like and what this LO looks like (just like his or her brother) that we really did not see the need to see it in 3D.  We could distinguish unique things (i.e., he had DH's nose, etc.) without paying extra.

We are on the fence. It is $99 for 15 minutes plus DVD and pictures. They say they get the best results between 26-30 weeks so I have a few weeks to decide. I think I am going to ask my doc if I am having any more u/s. If not, I think we'll elect to do the 3D. We only had 1 u/s very early on and the a/s when LO refused to show us her face. I would like to see her again!

I got one but it was not elective. Check with your insurance mine covers them even if they are optional

I would look around at all your options for places who do 3d. My husband and I got a 3d/4d 10 minute ultrasound, DVD of the ultrasound and a cd of 60 images for only $50. $150 sounds too expensive IMO.

Im interested in it.....just for the fun of it. Would be cool seeing what she looks like in there ...
But to buck up $150 and drive 1h45m to get one done - not a priority.
