PP bleeding? TMI

I am curious because of by own bleeding. For the first two weeks bleeding wasn't ultra heavy with no clots and gradually slowed and it turned into mainly just discharge. I went to the OB over some popped stitches at 2 weeks barely any bleeding, he poked around a bit (which hurt like hell btw). Next day or later that night I started bleeding again and have continued to bleed since. I am at 3w2d pp and bleed enough to fill a panty liner 3-4hours with a small clot here and there.
So my question/ concern is it normal to slow bleeding and then to continue? How long does did your bleeding last?

Re: PP bleeding? TMI

  • About 3 weeks with DS1 who was a c/s. I've tapered off to red spotting 1 week pp with DS2 who was a VBAC. Not sure if I'm lucky or if I'll start up again.

  • With DS1, I bled on and off until my 6 week check up. With DS2, I bled heavy the first two weeks and it tapered off by the 4 or 5th week post partum.
  • I bled for 8 weeks with DS, the first 2 weeks or so it was quite heavy then it became like a period, tapered off a bit - then got heavier again before it finally dissapeared.

Do you mean panty liner as like the super-small ones, not an actual more absorbent pad? I would think a liner every 3-4 hours isn't bad, but I'm not a doctor so if you're concerned it wouldn't hurt to call.  If not they will check your bleeding at your 6 week pp appointment.

  • Yeah a super small liner, so not a whole lot of blood. Not concerned, I just wasn't sure whats "normal" or if any one else has experienced it tapering off then slowing continuing on like that.

  • Mine went from heavy to light to nothing to heavy again for almost 6 weeks.

  • The guidance I received is filling a pad in an hour - get it checked out ASAP. Sounds normal. Mine increases after being on my feet more. Being out and about to go to your appt. could have done it right there to cause that increase.
