We were talking with my family about possible therapies and treatments for DS currently and in the future and SO brought up stem cell research for stroke victims. My initial thought was "No way, that's nuts!" but then I started searching the web and found some pretty concrete info on it. One study showed that every participant showed at least minimal progress and were expected to keep improving. Most of the companies and studies I found wouldn't take anyone younger than 18 years, but I thought it was something interesting to ponder. In all honesty, if I could find a legitimate doctor who had previous success, I think it would definitely be worth the money and loans we would have to get. Have you ladies heard anything about this? I'm really just looking for information to consider. I haven't even talked about it with anyone since I researched it so it's far from being even a possibility at this point in time.
Also, I'll be the first to say that I never was a proponent for stem cell research. I used to think it was just plain wrong and that I would never find it okay. It's funny how your views can change when it's your child.
TIA!
