We just did a sensory profile with his OT and ALL of the section results show that DS is within the "typical range!"
Now they did say, (and I agree), that day-to-day there could be difficulties loud noises, different reactions to different places, however they are leaning towards more of a behavioral problem than sensory problem.
They still think he will benefit from OT for the next 6mo, which I am for. However, his sensory difficulties don't seem to be causing the problems in his daily life.
This profile confirms what DH and I have been thinking for months now, and we had to really push for a re-eval. The OT does seem to be well versed in SPD, finally...she is the third therapist we have seen. However she has confirmed that DS no longer shows a developmental delay or SPD enough to to dx him.
It's is unexpected, but kind of solidified for us where DS' difficulties were coming from...a behavior. It is confirming for us the path we are taking.
Re: SPD is no longer presented.
I agree with the behaviorist as well; I know your son is older than EI age but DD (SPD, possible "OCD" which I think is a behavior thing as well) but her speech therapist is almost done - she is even surprised - but is going to recommend a behavioral therapy eval as/before she goes so that can be in her place if needed.
Also, I will be "shopping" for another OT - if it truly is sensory, this one just doesn't push enough or doesn't know quite how to work with my child or that my child is working around her.
