Toddlers: 24 Months+

What is your 2 - 3 year old FAV toy?

I have not purchased my 29 month old (girl) any new toys in months b/c we spent the entire summer outside playing and going to the pool - easy stuff!
Preparing to shift indoors, I'd like to get her some toys that will occupy her for a while.
She is kind of over what she has, so am I!

Some of her past/current go-to toys are: her kitchen; building blocks/big legos; musical keyboard; lots of arts and crafts.

Please share the toys you highly recommend for this age groups! Or things you don't have but plan to get say for Christmas.

  • My kid is really into trains right now. He's getting a wooden train set and a train mat for Christmas.

He stills loves his blocks and kitchen right now, so I'm not much help. :-)

  • Crayons! He definitely needs to be supervised while coloring, but he absolutely loves it.

  • Little people are a big hit with DD. By far her favorite is the easel. It's dry erase on one side and chalkboard on the other. The dry erase marker side is also magnetic and it came with a bunch of shape and letter magnets. The dry erase marker are washable :)

Trains are also big with her too.

  • My dd now 32 months loves her Roo toy from Pooh bear and has tea parties with him. Loves her little people and her books. We read a lot.

  • My DS loves Play-Doh right now. It's obviously a bit of a pain because constant supervision is necessary if I don't want Play-Doh in my carpet, but he sure has a lot of fun.
  • Dolls, coloring and art stuff, building blocks and books, tractors.

  • Dress up! Princess cloths. Vanity, brush. That's the age when mine started appreciating her femininity.
  • Okay, mine just turned 3 but my first suggestion would be to start rotating toys.  Put some away and bring them out again in a few months.  Trust me, they will be brand new toys at that point.  Secondly, my DD was/is into painting on the easel, dressing up, Loving Family dollhouse (really just the dolls and furniture), taking her baby dolls shopping in the shopping cart, and oddly enough, looking at books-especially My First Look and Find books (she's my crazy child so I'm just surprised that she actually sits voluntarily).

  • Mine is obsessed with stuffed animals, her kitchen, paint and playdough, and Bristle Blocks right now.
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut
  • For those of you whose kids like little people, if a girl my daughter has loved the princess castle and it sings songs too which is so cute!

Never heard of bristle blocks. My girl would love those. She loves to build!
  • My 2.5 year old loves Little People, too, including the princess castle!  She also has a doll house that she loves, and can't get enough of mothering her babies!  I have started packing up a big box full of toys (we have way too many toys!) and sticking it in a closet and then rotating them back in and hiding a new boxfull once a month so her old toys feel new again without having to buy anything new
  • Not an indoor toy, but my son absolutely loves his strider balance bike. Definitely no training wheels needed anymore and next spring when the weather is nice we will be able to go straight to a big boy bike with pedals and no training wheels as a 3 year old. He flies on his strider, I cannot recommend it enough!
