Last year we had DS party at a place in town that has huge blow up jump houses. They have obstacle course ones, slides, ones for toddlers too. We paid a set price and they did setup and clean up as well as providing pizza and drinks. Best 200 dollars I ever spent. The Kids had a blast playing and when it was over there was nothing extra we had to do.
We had a bowling party for him the year before but at the same price we had to provide all the food and clean up. It was still fun.
Andrea, I wish my kids has summer birthdays instead of December. Growing up I always had outside parties. When I was little my parents setup a sprinkler and we played kid games and ran around. When I w as going into fifth grade I had pool parties.
SimpleJane, I wish bounce house parties where only $200 here. Even for a Sunday morning 9:30am party for 12 kids and no food is $259!
Jen - Mom to two December 12 babies
Nathaniel 12/12/06 and Addison 12/12/08
- Harry Potter themed party in 1st grade. The kid's mom did amazing things--made capes for the kids, drew lightning marks on their foreheads, gave them all fake glasses, and had magic wands. They did spells, made butterbeer... I was in awe of what she pulled off.
We just did a trampoline party for SS. Other ideas we have kicked around: ice skating party, pool party, laser tag party, movie party, zoo party. We always do the parties at the special event places since Bm always does something simple at her house.
DS had a birthday party at a glow-in-the dark mini-golf place. We had the whole place to ourselves (Monday night). It was awesome. For his next party, I'd like to do a bounce house or trampoline place.
DD likes home parties, but I HATE them. I am having a hard time planning her next birthday b/c I dread home parties......parties DD has enjoyed include a craft stoe where they made duct-tape pursees, a scavenger hunt (went to 3-4 stores in the same town within walking distance, one for a craft, one for a light lunch, one for painting their nails), a movie theatre (also, someone had a home party where they rented a movie screen and had a movie night in the backyard).
SS for his 6th birthday had been asking for laser tag since right after he turned 5. Literally 3 weeks before I booked it, he changed his mind! He said he wanted a party at our karate school. I made it ninja theme black and red, and decorated the school up. DH taught a fun class, we played some ninja games, had cake, it was great. I'll never forget when SS walked in and said 'this is for ME??? This is the best birthday EVER!'. I gave myself 10 mom points that day. He really had a great day.
