Confirmed today that my LO (11 weeks) has thrush for the third time so I'm assuming we never actually kicked it in the first place, just suppressed it. Anyway, we are doing yet another round of nystatin suspension for her. Also I'll be giving her some of my probiotic supplement (mixed with breast milk) per the pediatrician's advice. I'm on a probiotic, prescription anti-fungal nipple cream and eating Greek yogurt daily as well as boiling/washing the hell out of everything that comes in contact with her mouth or my boobs to kill the yeast. Following some Le Leche and Kellymom advice to cut down on sugar and dairy to "starve" the yeast in my body but it's only been a few days so I don't know if that's the answer.
I'm definitely not giving up on breast feeding but has anyone had a similar battle with thrush? It's exhausting to go through all this only to have it pop back up a few weeks later. My only friend who went through this just switched to formula all together because it was too difficult to get rid of the thrush. When my baby gets those white patches in her mouth, it seems painful for her to nurse and just makes me feel like a terrible mommy.
So frustrated!

Re: Thrush
I started changing my breast pads more often since yeast feeds on moisture. If your pads/clothes stay wet, you will probably continue to get thrush.
I let my nipples air dry out at least once a day (and sometimes at night if they are leaking a lot)--same reason as above.
I eat yogurt and/or drink kefir daily.
I give my LO Gerber BabyGaia Probiotics daily (it also helps build her intestinal Tracy and cuts back on her painful gas).
I am so sorry y'all are going through this. I hope it clears up for good soon!
Anyway, so sorry for what you are going through. You are such a great mom for continuing to fight, and if you decide you can't do it anymore, you are still a good mom! ;-)
