Small chested ladies....advice from TTM for maternity/nursing bras

So I'm a FTM and started my search for bras this week and got so overwhelmed and they didn't even have 32's at motherhood (a must since my actual chest measures 29)

So I reached out to my petite cousin who is a monther of 2 and here was her gold star advice....(we both are 32B pre-pregnancy)

"I got all of mine from target. Whatever you do, do not purchase any actual nursing bras until after you deliver. Use the mustela sleeping nurse bras post baby until you actually have time to try them on. I went from a d during my pregnancies to an e post baby. It's insane. Target does sell them in size 32 which is really nice. They have a whole nursing bra section and none of them are too pricey either. Happy hunting!"

I found this very useful so I thought I would pass it along to all my March Bumpies!

  • Thanks! I was a 32 b prepregnancy as well. I've already bumped up to a 32 d! Needless to say, DH is pretty excited about it

  • I went from a 32B to a D while pregnant and then a F/G when my milk came in. Wowser! Now that baby just weaned, however, my little pancakes are so not cute. :/

  • My size didn't change while I was pregnant (stayed a 34A). It didn't grow until my milk came in and grew to a 34C. After I was done nursing, they deflated big time.

  • I was a 34A before I was pregnant with DD and I only went up to a 34C after delivery and while nursing for 7 months. And I went back down to a 34A after she weaned. But I do agree that you shouldn't buy any nursing bras til after delivery, because you just never know. I bought nursing tanks from target that I used in the hospital and for about the first week til got to the store for nursing bras.

  • Don't buy a nursing bra yet. You are going to get much bigger. I'm a 36 b and around 35 weeks got a few nursing bras from motherhood and when she measured me she said I had gone up to a D. You swell and get body fat in places you're not used to so I would hold off for now. I ended up liking my nursing bra from Walmart the most and I think it was 12 dollars.
  • I was a 32b before getting pregnant with DS and ended up needing a bigger cup and band size. You can also find tutorials online to convert a regular bra into a nursing bra pretty easily if you are having trouble finding your size.

  • I found some great options at kohls too. They aren't technically nursing bras and were sort of like a sports bra with cups, but soft and supportive. I would just pull them to the side to nurse. They were sized as A/b, b/c, c/d, etc which was nice. They worked when I was a small c at the end and still when I was a large d after milk came in. So so comfy too!
  • I bought my nursing bras from Target when I had my son. They were LOUSY! Within a few weeks of wearing them they quit fitting right and became horribly uncomfortable. I also looked at Kohl's but their selection was pitiful and I couldn't find any in my size. I ended up just buying normal bras from Victoria's Secret and tucking the cup down when I nurse. It works :-)
  • Thanks for the advice.  I was a 32B/32C (depending on how my weight fluctuated that month).  I am still at a 32C now and can still fit into most of my bras.  We'll see how it goes later.

  • Sigh!  I'm a bit jealous!  I went from a 34A to a 36B while nursing (stayed a slightly larger A while pregnant).  Now I'm a 34 A again.  Wouldn't mind going a bit bigger this time!  ;)

I'm sharing my experience because I found it very, very hard to find a decent non-underwire nursing bra (underwires gave me blocked ducts) in a 36B.  Everything seemed to be much larger!  Anyway, Nummies nursing bras are the BOMB.  Fit great, super comfortable, and actually look nicer than most nursing bras.  I can't vouch for them in larger sizes, but if you stay on the smaller end look them up!
