Success after IF

Just read "The Handmaid's Tale"

If you are interested in some post apocalyptic book on infertility and a bunch of other crazy stuff that was written in the 80s, this was a really weird read. I'm not really that into sci fi, so maybe it wasn't the best choice for me...

But it was interesting. I'm guessing they didn't know that much about IF in the 80s when this novel was written.

  • Haha omg I had to read this my junior year of high school! And as you can imagine I wasn't very fond of it then. Definitely a strange read.

  • Margaret Atwood is one of my favorite writers and the Handmaid's Tale one of my favorite books.  There is also a movie, albeit not as good as the book.  It's not so much about infertility as it is about our destroying the environment, over reaching government, control, taking religion in the way wrong direction, etc.

If you want to read some of her stuff that isn't quite so "out there" try the Blind Assassin, Alias Grace, the Robber Bride or Cat's Eye.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • @itsmekvb
I think I was just focusing on the IF aspect if the book bc of my own experience. Maybe I will try one of the other books by that author. I do like some fantasy type books, but this one was a little extra out there for me.
