What do you buy the person that has everything?

Hi All-
My MIL's birthday is coming up and we are unexpectedly getting together this weekend-
Usually I would have the girls make something for her at the paint/ceramics place (coffee mug, plate, something like that), but we do not have time.
I want to get her something special without spending a ton of money- this lady literally has EVERYTHING. And she is so picky about things that she likes- everything that she owns is red or teal- not even kidding.
Any good gift ideas? TIA!

  • What about tickets to a show or a membership to something?  My inlaws are the people who have everything and we are also on a limited budget.  One year we got them a membership to the zoo - a senior membership for two people was something around $40.  They loved it and it was the gift that kept giving all year.  Another year we did a gift basket for their upcoming road trip with a cheap CD, maps of where they were going, snacks we knew they would eat for the car, and a gift card to the gas station.

  • My go-to gift is usually a spa gift certificate, if you don't know which one she likes you can do a spa-finder card that works at a variety of spas. Food is always good too, do you know of anything she likes- chocolates, coffee, wine? You could make a basket of some of her favorite treats. One of my friends got me a gift certificate to redbox with a basket of goodies for a staying in "movie night" It was thoughtful and fun. It had gourmet popcorn, some gourmet candies and wine.
  • No time to paint pottery, but should be enough time for some sort of photo gift.  Check your local photo store/drug store for what you could have made.  Cute tote bag with a pic of the kids, just a cute large pic of the kids, calendar, mug, ornament, etc...

LOL!!!! You are so right!! DD 3 was born in December, so for Christmas, I gave family a black and white picture of her in a beautiful silver frame. This summer she let me know that she sold the frame in her garage sale and replaced it with a teal one from the dollar store. Great. Thanks.
  • Thank you everyone for the great ideas!

  • Zingerman's always has great food gifts.
  • Wine, spa gift card, restaraunt and movie gift card for a night out, or a pretty floral arrangement. I use sherries berries all the time for gifts. They have beautiful huge chocolate dipped strawberries that you can have delivered to her home. The come nicely packaged and are seriously gorgeous!
