STMs - was labor earlier the second time?

I'm expecting #2 very soon and keep hearing from everyone that number 2 will likely come earlier than LO #1. Obviously, everyone has different experiences and that isn't a hard and fast rule, but just curious for those who just had #2, 3, 4, etc... did labor start earlier this time around?

Nope. DS1 born at 36 1/2 weeks and DS2 was born on his due date.

No, DD was a little over a week early, and DS came right at 40 weeks on his due date. Labor itself was much quicker though. I was at 8cm by the time we got to the hospital, which was only two hours from when we started timing contractions.

Nope! DD was born 36w5d, and I am currently 39w1d

Two ppl I know had their second babies this year and both went overdue which is where I think I'm headed!

Labor this time was longer (20 hours vs. 6) and so much worse. Delivery, however, was a breeze , much faster (10 minutes of pushing vs. 30) and I didn't tear or anything like last time so recovery was wonderful.

No. DD was spontaneous labor at 39w1d. Four hours total. DS was after a membrane sweep labor at 41w2d. 12 hours.

I agree with PP that there's no way to know. What will be will be. That being said, my water broke with DD at 39w3d, and I ended up with a CS. With DS, who I needed a RCS for, I ended up 3cm dilated and fully effaced at exactly 38w. Since the next step was active labor, which we wanted to avoid, I had him later that day.

Both of mine were born on their due dates and second labor much longer early labor but once active labor established only 1.5 hours to baby in my arms.

Ha, no. DD1 came 3 days before due date. DD2 came with cervidil induction at 41w6d. Which I'd never heard second babies came sooner. Made going overdue ever harder, I think.

Yes, no 2 was 10 days early vs. 2 days early for no. 1. Pushed for 2.5 hrs first time. Second time pushed once and he was out.

Yes, but my second and third are twins.

#1 37w1, 10 hrs from water breaking to baby
#2&#3 34w, 1hr 15min from water breaking to babies.

Yes. Ds1 water broke at 41w. Born 31 hours later at 41w1d. Ds2 cntx started at 40w6d. 36 hours of labor later, he was tachycardic and showing signs of distress. Born via csection at 41w.

1st - 42 weeks ( no induction she came on her own. 10 1/2 hours of labor .
2nd- 41 weeks 3 days .4 hours of labor
3rd- 36 weeks 5 days. 29 hours ( 9 active hours)
4th- 40 weeks 3 days. 4 1/2 hours .

DD 1 was born at 39 weeks 3 days. DD one was born at 36 weeks 1 day!

DD1 was at 39w6d. DD2 was at 39w4d. My OB that isn't really true. That babies come around 40w for the most part no matter the number of pgs. He did say labor should go faster and it didn't for me. Both were 16hrs.

Nope. I am with pp; I've actually seen more people go later with #2 than earlier.

DD1 came two days early. DD2 came two days late.

Both were born their due date! Ds1 was a c/s and Ds2 was a vbac. Labor was faster the second time around.

DD was induced at 41w4d. I went into labor with DS at 40w2d and he was born that night. So # 2 did ciome earlier than # 1.

DS #1 was born at 38w 2d and DS #2 was born at 37w 5d. So yes earlier for me and faster too!! I labored with DS #1 for about 4 hours and with DS #2 for less than an hour and he was born in less than 30 minutes of arriving at the hospital. Good luck to you!

No, ds1 was 12 days early, ds2 was 4 days early. And a good friend of mine had her first baby 2 weeks early, had to be induced with #2, and #3 was 6 days early.

Both of my babies came at 40w3d (charting). My first came at 10:01pm, second at 8:11pm, so I guess my second did come an hour and fifty minutes earlier than my first

Both of mine came at 41+2. However, my first labor was 22 hours and my second was only 3.5, so I guess, in a way, my second did come a little earlier!
