Cloth Diapering

BB and side sleeper

Anyone else use Best Bottoms and a side sleeper? The only time I ever have leaks is when she is sleeping on her side. So I know it is not an absorbancy issue. Her diaper also fits her perfectly. I dont get it. Its really annoying having to strip her bed and change her entire outfit after every nap! :/

Re: BB and side sleeper

  • I do, I havent tried it yet but i guess I should. At night she uses a doubler. I am just so frustrated with not understanding why its leaking out the gussets? DD is 5 months and Ibought all the covers and inserts new. She only naps for an hour or less!

  • When she lies on her front or back the pee rolls down her and into the fabric at front/back of diaper.  When she sleeps on her side it rolls down her and out a leg hole since there just isn't much fabric at the leg hole!

I think a prefold in there will help as it will squish up against her so the pee goes directly to it rather than rolling down her skin.

That's my take on it anyways!

  • I love my BB's and I can't believe I'm saying this... but I can see how they wouldn't be good for a side sleeper.  The insert is in the middle, and doesn't go around the leg.  I would have suggested a fitted, since it is going to put the absorbent material right up against LO's leg.  You might be able to make it work with a BB cover, and keep using the BB's for daytime.
