home made remedy I tell all of my patients..mix equal parts bran cereal, prune juice and applesauce. 2-4 tablespoons a day. will keep in the fridge in a covered container for a week.
Prunes or dried apricots. Warm liquid in the morning (tea/coffee/hot chocolate) help me a lot. Lots of water. High-fiber foods.
Also? I have to give myself a chance. If I'm really busy and running around in the morning, and don't give myself time to poop, then i won't poop. But if I wake up early, drink my leisurely cup of tea, eat some cereal, read the paper, etc...then I will probably poop. I know not everyone has the luxury of such a leisurely morning, but it's all about establishing a routine that works for you and sticking to it.
Even though I didn't feel otherwise dehydrated, drinking TONS of liquids (mostly water)--even when I didn't want to/wasn't thirsty--helped put me back on track...
I had to call my OB last week. They said to use milk of magnesia. It did the trick the next morning but I almost passed out. Not a pleasant experience. I am trying to stay on top of it now.

I take one capful of miralax daily and then when I need it I take milk of magnesia. It works overnight and isn't bad just make sure you are drinking a lot of water or gatoraid to stay hydrated because it flushes out your system.
