BTDT - nighttime contractions

With my first child I had no real contractions until my water broke.

With my second I had (painful!) contractions that woke me up for weeks before I went into ptl at 36 weeks. When that stopped, I don't think I had any contractions until a week and a half later, the night before I went into 'real' labor with my daughter.

This time I've been having periodic nighttime contractions for weeks already (since a bout of ptl at 31 weeks), that have recently become much more painful. It's hard to go back to sleep after them, both because of the pain level and lasting soreness they cause and also because I keep thinking I'm going into labor again!!

Just wondering how many of you are having more contractions in the last few weeks of your subsequent pregnancies!

  • I had real contractions on and off with my first pregnancy and now with my second as well. With my first I gave birth nine days early. I'm hoping that this one will be a little early too. I have a tendency to make big babies!

  • I get so many contractions when I'm lying down, it isn't even funny. I cannot get a good night's sleep for anything. I never had this with my first - like you, I didn't have any contractions until my water broke. These have been going on for about a week, getting progressively worse. I hate them so much.
