So I'm feeling a little uneasy about my OBGYN... it started back at the beginning of the year when she put me on birth control pills I didn't want to be on. Low ad behold, I'm pregnant! (which is a pleasant surprise, don't get me wrong). Here are my current conerns.. can I get some advice on whether I'm rightfully concerned or crazy?
1 It took 3 weeks for them to schedule me for my first appointment after my positive test, which seemed like an eternity tome
2 At my appointment, I had some optional blood testing done for CF and thyroid as well as the normal... the lady who ordered the bloodwork told me that if I didn't hear back by Wednesday to call and check because she wanted a scan to see how far I was and needed to mke sure my hcg levels were high enough... Wednesday came, and I didn't hear.. so I called an the girl on the phone literally said
"Yeah, we have your results.. what do you want to know?"
"Well.. first.. am I pregnant?" .. it was pretty much downhill from there.. she seemed skeptical that I needed a scan, but reluctantly scheduled one in 2weeks, which is one week before my 10wk dr apt
and 3 when should I actually see my dr? by the time I go next Tuesday, it'll be my second trip without actually seeing my dr. Also, shes pregnant and expecting in November so for about a month I'll have a different doctor. Should I be concerned abut that?
This is my first pregnancy, so I'm not sure if these are jitters or concerns? Thanks!

This time around i am waiting for my insurance company to cover a birth center, so i just made an appointment with a midwife at a doctors office.
I am like you and do not like having a different doctor. I would prefer just one. Do what you feel is comfortable. Doctors always have new patients and patients leave so do not feel bad!

That being said, I don't think your scheduling issues are out of the ordinary. Most women don't have their first appointment until around 8 weeks and they usually see the nurse at that time. Typically you don't see the doctor/midwife until the next appointment which is usually 4 weeks after that. And an ultrasound isn't usually necessary.
There are practices that will get you in earlier for teaching and a dating ultrasound (the midwife I see now does this, but it was not standard at my other practice where I had my two other children and my miscarriage). But it's not usually necessary.
I would have been upset about not hearing about your results and the lady you spoke with didn't have very good bedside manner, but I don't think they usually do call unless there are abnormalities.
The receptionist sounds like she has no bedside manner, but that's no reason to leave your OB, especially if she will be going through the exact same thing as you 5 months before. That experience would be awesome.

I agree with OP. If you don't feel comfortable switch. You are paying for their services. Not the other way around.
I switched before I got my BFP with my DS because the OB wanted to send me directly to IVF the first time I met her because infertility was out of her expertise and I had been trying over 6 months and was over 35. Her recommendation was made without even doing any tests what-so-ever to check hormones or thyroid or anything else to see what was causing me to have long irregular cycles for so long post BCP. I got pg just over a month after that appointment on my own. Take that biotch!! lol
