The stage I wanted is finally here...and I'm sort of over it lol

DS just turned seven months. He has just started showing some real attachment to DH and I. Reaching out for us, fussing when we leave a a room or when he's with someone else and wants us to take him, and big, huge smiles when we come into his line of vision. It has been awesome to finally get some reciprocal love. But oh, man, be careful what you wish for lol. DS has not wanted to be put down at all today. Even when we sit with him on the floor, he turns and puts his arms out and crawls onto us. He's really only happy when he's being held or sitting on our laps. I have accomplished nothing today, because he goes banana sandwich when I walk away from him. A blessing and a curse in the same hand. ;)

    I'm right there with ya mama. I just try to look at it like this - this too will be over too soon, so enjoy it while it lasts- we'll all be wishing our babies wanted us like this again before we know it. (I secretly love that I'm the only one that he's completely happy with) :-)

    DD has been doing this since about five and a half months. Of all the things for her to be "advanced" at. :p The only way I get anything done is to put her in the ring sling and go about my business. Seriously, just strap the kid to you, put on some music, and make a game of household chores. ;)

    Haha... Sorry... Banana Sandwiches! Love it. At 5 months I finally told myself to stop saying, "I can't wait until he does...." Actually, I can wait! I love that he has no inkling to crawl. I can still leave the room to pee and come back to find him in the same spot!

    Spreading something on toast was the one task I could never figure out how to do one-handed. DD1 lived on my arm her first 8 months.

    And I'm with you all - with DD1 she didn't show any preference for me/DH until she was about 7 months old. I felt a little sad about it. And then she went into mega stranger anxiety mode for the next 1.5 years (she's only just coming out of it). It was so bad that for a while when we were at my ILs, both DH and I had to be in the room at all times or she went nuts. If one of us had to pee, well, everyone just had to tolerate the inconsolable crying until that person got back.
    Now I am thrilled that she's starting to be ok with other people because I can.not.wait until we can finally get a babysitter and go out somewhere on a date.

    BFP1: DD1 born April 2011 at 34w1d via unplanned c/s due to HELLP, DVT 1 week PP
    BFP2: 3/18/12, blighted ovum, natural m/c @ 7w4d
    BFP3: DD2 born Feb 2013 at 38w4d via unplanned RCS due to uterine dehiscence

    Go out after the kids go to sleep! There must be a lot of late night dining establishments in Germany, right?

    We did that once before DD2 arrived. DD2 still wakes up very frequently, though, and she now has stranger anxiety, so if a babysitter were to show up in her room at night to give her a bottle, I'm pretty sure she would have a complete and utter meltdown. One meltdown wouldn't be a big deal, but I'm worried she would 1) have such an awful night the rest of that night that it would completely negate any relaxing effect the evening out had, and 2) cause her to get really clingy and scared at night in general because she would be afraid we'd leave her again.

    So we're at least waiting until DD2 is consistently sleeping for a good stretch in the late evening.
