Ive always loved these threads and now I finally have one to contribute -- even if it did make me blush all sorts of red.
On Sunday we went to a BBQ at the in-laws country club. Its always a big to-do with tons of people and their families. The people there always make me uncomfortable so Im never 100% relaxed when we go there (which luckily is rarely). DS was a angel and was having a great time. He loved the face painting and clowns, and of course the ice cream.
Right before we are about to leave I take him into the ladies room to change him. Given there were so many people, there were about 20 people in line to use the rest room. As I am changing DS he decides to drop an f-bomb loud and clear. I try and sush him as the room gets a little quiet, then he decides to say it louder two more times! I am so embarrassed, blushing and trying not to laugh while telling him to not say that word. We normally redirect him to a different word, but I just froze! All the ladies are laughing (good heartedly) so I finish up, apologize and explain how this is what happens when a 19 month old learns "fork" and "stuck" in the same week.
I was definitely laughing about it right after, but who knew a baby could make a grown women turn bright red like that!
Re: kids say the darnest things...
For a while when DS1 would say truck it sounded like the f word. Look mommy! A fuck!
From the restroom ladies' perspective, he was probably the hit of the party!
