Chiropractor

Does anyone take their LO to a specially trained baby chiropractor?

I was with DH's family over the weekend and we were talking about how LO's head tends to lean to the right side and they mentioned that a few of them had taken their babies to the chiropractor when they were infants to get adjusted. I plan to talk to our pedi about what options we have to fix DS's head tilt but I was just curious how many april mom's have heard of this and/or had any experience and what your thoughts were.

Re: Chiropractor

  • Lo has gone since he was eight days old. Our chiro specializes in moms and babes. He loves it, giggles the whole time and has no head tilt.

  • I have heard of it frequently.... I have major chiropractor phobia so I am not comfortable with it but everyone that does it swears by it. I have also heard chiropractors can heal ear infections

  • I know a mom who took her fussy baby to a chiropractor for an adjustment and her baby was so much better and less fussy.

  • I take Mila and I took Ava, too. I come from a family full of chiropractors though, so I'm biased :)

  • Yes!!!! Worked amazingly with my niece. She was born March 23rd and had a flat spot due to he neck muscles being so tight. They were great with her. They're alo great for chronic ear infections!!!

  • I don't personally but moms in my support group love it. They say they can tell when the kids need one.
  • I havent' taken LO yet though I talked to my chiro the other day at my appt.  DH is aganist the idea so we will see if she ever goes.

  • What about a pediatric P.T. evaluation? They may be able to give you home exercises that don't involve "adjusting" LO's spine... I have a hard time believing that you can fix a flat spot or torticollis by adjusting the spine/vertebral alignment if the problem is tight muscles. More like putting a bandaid on the problem, which keeps you bringing LO back for more "adjustments". Yikes.

  • Yeah, I'm going to ask the doctor about what she recommends - whether that's physical therapy or chiropractic. I had just never heard of people doing the later so I'm curious what other's experiences are.

  • If you go to a good Chiro he or she will tell you what they can fix and what they can't. I have brought LO to the Chiro a few times, and one of my friends is a Chiro so he sooo just adjust LO when we are together. Her stories are amazing- help with ear infections, lack of sleep, not pooping, etc. And every time he gets adjusted, there's a poosplosion very shortly afterward!

PP if the tight muscles are causing the problem, it sounds like something a Chiro could actually help with. Our muscles, ligaments, bones etc are all attached and if one thing is out of alignment it screws up other areas as well. I'm no expert but there's some laymen's terms for you. :)
