Success after IF

He'll Get Hungry Eventually, Right?

DS (6 months tomorrow for those on mobile) has had a runny nose for more than a week. If it's a cold, it isn't a serious one. I'm leaning more towards allergies or a tooth. (Even though 6 months is on the early side for allergies, his runny nose started the same day as mine and I know that's what mine is because it responds to my seasonal meds.) No matter the reason, the draining is messing with his eating. We haven't gotten all 5 bottles into him in days. His diapers are fine, so he isn't dehydrated, but his calorie intake is way down. If we hadn't just had a 3 day weekend I probably would have called to at least ask the doctor about it, but since he doesn't seem actually sick I didn't feel the need to call the emergency line. A couple times he's gotten up to 99 on the ear thermometer but that's it. Of course less food and a stuffy nose means less sleep ... tell me it gets better! :)

  • Thanks. I figure I'll call if he gets a real fever, but he has his 6 mo checkup next week. For now, we're just making less formula and offering it often in hopes he'll take some. Sounds like that's all we can really do. :)

  • Poor LO, it's so sad when they are sick. Smaller more frequent meals, tilting the head of the crib up a bit, and running a humidifier are the best things you can do. And saline drops and a booger sucker.
GL, I hope LO feels better soon.

  • It's normal. :) When i get a temp of 99 degrees in the ear then I try to get an accurate reading with the rectal. I have found that the reading in the ear can be up to a few degrees lower than the rectal reading. DS has had a temp of around 99 in the ear that was closer to 101 with the more accurate rectal thermometer.
