Quick, CIO sleep help!

So, DS was sleep trained at 6 months. Worked like a charm. Got great long stretches of sleep, still woke up maybe once a night to nurse, whole thing took about 8 minutes until he was tucked back in bed, no tears. Well, we dropped the middle of the night nursing session (last one to go, totally weaned now) about 3 weeks ago. Lately it has been either amazing or awful. Like, most of the time he is sleeping 11-12 hours straight though (yay!), but on the nights he doesn't, he carries on. If I go in to check on him, he cries unless I flip on the lights and read a book or something. He points for this door, says dada, just wants to get up. After being up for an hour in the middle of the night last night, he just woke up again. I know he is not ready to get up for the day. I left him, cried off and on for a full half hour! He fell back asleep as I was typing. What do I do? Go back to straight CIO? I think when I messed things up was about a week ago. He had woken up right after bed and started to cry, and normally I would have left him but something told me to check, and he had thrown up everywhere. Since then I have been scared to let him cry, because what if he is sitting there covered on vomit again :(. I'd feel awful.

Re: Quick, CIO sleep help!

  • Sorry no one has any answers. I'd just try to be consistent. As far as the vomiting thing goes maybe a high quality video monitor? I have a cheap one and haven't been able to tell the couple of times he has thrown up (not CIO related)

  • Thanks. Yeah, the vomit night wasn't crying related, he started crying because he puked. Twice. It just made me really gun shy about not at least checking on him. I think a video monitor might be the way to go
