Update: switching to midwife from OB

I made the switch! After much thought, I decided to switch to the midwives practice.
I had my first appointment today and they are so wonderful! They even want me to come back next week just so I can meet another midwife more quickly. I really appreciate how they are handling my situation, and how kind they are being.
Thanks for all your advice before ladies!

  • I am so glad you liked it! I don't think you will regret making the switch. MW are amazing!

  • I see an OB and it was an easy option for me this time around since the OB I am seeing is the one that delivered DD. However, I saw a MW last week since my OB was out and I loved it. She explained everything she was doing and gave me a better check over than my OB usually does. Kind of made me wish I had gone with a MW.

  • You won't regret it! I love how personal all of my appointments are and how my MW actually knows me and my SO, we're not just names and numbers on her chart. She is very supportive of my wishes and desires and has actually given me books on breastfeeding and natural childbirth to help me with my research. Rather than suggesting a medication, she will suggest a natural remedy to the common ailments of pregnancy. She even started calling DD by her name once we found out the sex! I love it. Hope you love yours just as much!

  • Yay! I'm happy that you are happy with the switch. I do think you will get better care, and as you are more comfortable and relaxed, theoretically, so will your birth. Good luck!

  • I love my midwife practice!! You won't regret your choice :)
  • Congrats! I love my MWs. I go to a practice of three, and they have made sure I got to meet all of them as well. They are so much more involved than OBs!
