Do you get upset if someone wakes your baby?

I know its just one nap in a million but I find it hard to be rational about this. I spend so much time getting LO asleep, if someone wakes him up I do get upset. I usually nap when he does, so often it wakes both of us up. I think I should take the approach, whoever wakes him up should now have to put him back to sleep.

Hell yes, I snapped at my grandma this morning because she has a Fran Drescher type voice and her whisper is nowhere close to a regular human whisper. She came to my house in the baby's room this morning & called herself trying to whisper unsuccessfully. She took LO since she woke him up & couldn't handle him so gave him to me 3 min later.

I get annoyed if someone wakes him without realizing he is sleeping, I get pissed if they realize it and still do it.

When Ava was three months old, H and I had finally walked her to sleep one day by walking her in the stroller. We took the opportunity to have lunch out and kept jiggling the stroller to keep her asleep. The waitress came over to take our order, then walked over to our sleeping baby and shook her leg to wake her up. I said, "Why would you possibly do that?". She replied, "I just wanted to see what she looked like awake". [-O<

Definitely, yes. FIL purposely woke M up once and I lost it. Who wakes a baby?! He now naps upstairs with the door closed and monitor on

NOt during this phase,but he's a sleepy baby and don't have sleep issues. However, the first two months, when he was up every 30 seconds and very colicky/ reflux, I wanted to cut people who woke him up, including DH.

I would get upset if someone woke up my son, but at the same time he isn't the easiest baby to wake up so they would really have to be trying. If he gets woken up it's usually because of some fairly unexpected sound. For instance yesterday during church there was another baby there who was getting baptized. Elisha was trying to fall asleep and the other baby started crying, after Elisha had fallen asleep, which woke him up. If the crying had been happening while he was falling asleep it probably would have been no big deal. Also generally once he is awake that's it, he's awake until his next nap or bed time.

YES. Yesterday we went to the beach and poor DD had the hardest time falling asleep. She finally passed out in my arms and not two minutes later, FIL, who KNEW how hard it was to get her asleep in the first place, decided it would be a good idea to open a bag of chips beside her. Guess who woke up... I could have killed him.

My baby doesn't sleep well at all. It drives me nuts when she gets woken up.

Yes. My step daughters come over on Saturdays when its not our weekend and since LO has to be up early to go to my sister in laws house I like that she sleeps in till whenever she gets up. Well my youngest step daughter ( after being told numerous times) will run up and down the wooded hallway screaming. My oldest step daughter will ask if she can go into the bedroom and touch LO. I say no because I want her to sleep. After a few minutes when we aren't looking she will go in there and do it and wake her up. I just want her to sleep.

If I could do this, I would never be upset. However, it's always my MIL or BIL who wake him and neither of them can get him back to sleep. Like, is it really necessary to yell across the entire house? Just get up and go find the person. Especially if you KNOW the baby is sleeping. OMG.

This is what bugs me the most! Ugh! My SIL (who lives with us, and gets to see him pretty much whenever she wants) used to wake him up all the time because she wanted to see/play with/cuddle him, and would hand him to me in less than 5 mins because he needed his diaper changed, and she "doesn't do diapers". Well, he always needs a change after a nap, so I made it a rule that if she wanted to wake him up, she had to change his diaper too. It worked, and she stopped.

The only other time it bothers me is if he just fell asleep. I don't get super upset about it if it was accidental or if he's been sleeping a long time.

People who voted no... Why? If it's an accident, I don't really consider it waking the baby and wouldn't get real worked up about it. To me, there is some intent implicit in tnis question, however. If I had ChicagoBroad's experience, I would be beyond ticked.
