help

I need to kno any ideas for grttin rid of/soothing/preventing a really bad diaper rash

Re: help

  • Getting rid of and Soothing diaper rash? I really like Butt Paste.

Preventing? Let baby's bum air dry as much as you can. You can also put a&d ointment on after diaper changes to prevent diaper/heat rash.

  • My LO had a mild diaper rash the other day. I stopped using baby wipes and used water and cotton wipes instead. I then applied a natural diaper rash cream that has zinc oxide as the active ingredient at every diaper change. I also gave him a little bit more diaper free time and made sure I was changing his diaper more frequently,
  • To prevent, I just put a bit of coconut oil. To treat, usually a&d.

  • We had severe diaper rashes and had to treat with a mix of butt paste and a Rx. Once under control butt paste works well for an average flair up.

To prevent we switched from wipes to warm wet washclothes and then use a dry wash cloth to dry off before diaper. The wash cloths we use are baby wash cloths that we bought from babies r us or buy buy baby or another similar store - which are much softer than adult wash cloths (I only mention this because as a FTM I thought they were just smaller versions of the big ones - luckily we have a very experienced SIL willing to catch me on these things).
  • All of the above but also, oatmeal baths if it's really bad.  Aveeno makes one but don't get sucked into the "baby" version.  It's exactly the same as the regular Aveeno oatmeal bath that you'll find in the regular body wash section of the store and it's cheaper.

  • 30 minutes of "naked time" works wonders.  Plus our son seems to love it lol
  • Baking soda and no soap in the bath. Lots of air time. Wash the bum with water in the sink good after each poo (after wiping of course)

  • Boudreaux Butt Paste is good and so is Dr Smiths. Keep them coated!!!
  • Triple paste worked for us.
  • make sure babies butt is dry and use a&d to prevent.
DD had a terrible rash coming home from the hospital we used yellow desitin ointment and now I use a very thin film of A&D every diaper change. Plus I think A&D smells good.

  • If there are open sores, you can use wet washcloths as wipes, triple antibiotic, and butt paste on top of that.
  • Another vote for Butt Paste here. It works quickly and effectively.
