So a friend lent me some maternity clothes including a couple pairs of leggings. The last time i wore leggings, it was with an oversized T-shirt and a side pony tail. (Hello, 1989). Are these back in style now? Are they acceptable to wear as pants?
I wear them with long tunics or sweaters and boots.

They are in style. I like to wear them with dresses or long shirts. I think the general rule of thumb is that they are ok to wear as pants as long as they cover your butt.

This! And they actually look pretty cute with a lot of maternity dresses/tops because they tend to be longer to begin with
Yup they are cute and easy to wear. And in a lot of cases you don't need to wear them under tunics or dresses, I'm actually not much of a fan of that way to wear them. I pair some of mine with t shirts, a cute bulky sweater with a scarf, cut off t shirt, flowy button up blouse, tanks and a blazer or button up etc.
Leggings are the best! Just have to ensure you've been doing your squats
I LURVE leggings, but am firmly in the "leggings are not pants" category. As long as your top covers your bum, rock em!
I have a cotton tunic/dress that's basically a long t shirt that I wear with leggings and call my "work pajamas". Throw on a scarf and boots and I get ton of compliments on my outfit, but in reality, what I'm wearing is basically jammies. It's the best!

They look super cute with sweater dresses and boots!! Yay Falls coming.
If the leggins are loosing color to the color of your leg I don't think you should leave the house in them, but that is jmo. I see way too many women my size in them as ants and they are so stretched I can see the pinks of their asses over the color of the leggins and that grosses me out.
So yea, get yourself a cute pregnancy dress or really long shirt and you shall look great.

It's a joke. About Canadians. It's hard for me to wrap my head around someone not understanding leggings.
Is the joke that Canadians are stupid? I'm Canadian. I understand leggings. HTH.
Oh come on Car, you know very well that we Canucks only know hockey and snowshoes. :P

LIES. Have you had our beer and poutine? We're fucking geniuses.
Not to mention our functioning healthcare system.
But obviously we're too stupid to understand leggings.
My love and understanding for leggings > love and understanding of hockey.
Failed Canadian right here. At least I like poutine.
I fail because I hate poutine! I even tried it when I was in Montreal and it didn't win me over.

You remind me of some of the hilarious people we see on Rick Mercer's "Talking with Americans" segments.
Pure fucking brilliance.

I guess it doesn't need repeating, but...yes to leggings (cute!), no to leggings as pants (ew...).
I can't WAIT to bust these out for the fall, with scarves and boots. Yay.
