NBR: Beauty Routine

Ok, I'm going back to work next week and will have to start wearing pants again *sad face* I've got a pretty good make-up and moisturing routine down (I have a ton of product suggestions if anyone needs some)

My question is...what do you do with your hair? I got it cut too short for my liking (just above my shoulders) and have been wearing it in a terrible low pony everyday. I look terrible...motivate me with what you guys do! Shower at night or morning? Blow dry? Straighten? Curl? Something I've never heard of?

Re: NBR: Beauty Routine

  • Lol my beauty routine is a shower at night, moisturizer, hair goes in a bun and when I wake up it has a nice little wave to it... However these days I usually just keep it up all day since ds has started grabbing it! And I never wear make up, I don't know how to do it, always ends up looking like I have clown make up on or a black eye! Lol!

  • I shower and blow dry at night and then just flat iron in the morning- I have naturally pretty straight hair, but sleeping rustles it all up. If I don't just wear it down, I usually do a braid or fishtail.

  • I'm not back to work yet but my plan is to continue taking a shower in the morning. My hair is pretty quick to blow dry and then I put it up in a sock bun. When I take it out at work the ends are softy curled under and my hair has some body.

  • I shower in the morning, and I let my hair air dry for the most part. I do my makeup and find things to do, like dishes, laundry, picking up the house...whatever while my hair air drys. I then bring Owen into the bathroom and set him in his bouncer. He loves to watch me do my hair. I will blow dry what is still wet, straight. ((my hair is ridiculously thick and wavy, and it's long)) After it's dry, I will usually curl it, or sometimes I will straighten it. I prefer it curled though.

I actually waste my time doing my hair, because it's always thrown up into a sloppy bun thing before an hour is up.

Ugh that would require a picture of me...I will provide in the morning. I apologize if anyone is eating when they see it :)

  • I remember when I went back to work when DD was a baby I would shower at night for the most part. My hair is really fine and I could just run a curling iron or straightener through it quick in the morning. Once she was sleeping better I went back to showering in the morning bc I like the way my hair turns out freshly washed and dried. I'll probably end up doing the same thing again this time. I also started washing it every other day and using dry shampoo in between with a curling iron bc I got really last at the end while pregnant w DS.

  • So this is me...I hate the cut. I have a natural wave/curl to my hair so I always have to do something with it or I look like one of those crazy hipster kids :) I have fine hair but a ton of it which makes hear styling a time commitment. I'm gonna start practicing maybe showering and drying at night and ironing or curling in the morning.

    Suggestions are welcome :)image

  • I like it too! It reminds me a little bit of my hair. I shower and blow dry my hair in the morning. That's all I have time for. Mine stays a little wavy and it works. If I shower at night, my hair is flat (and greasy looking) in the AM.

Me too. I am now so motivated knowing so many of you put effort in! I just struggle to even care sometimes :)

  • I like the cut too. But here are some suggestions.

You can leave your hair the way it is, and style your hair like this. I think it's perfect length. for it, and really cute!

Another suggestion would to be take your hair up in the back...make it more of a dramatic inverted bob, and stack it with a few layers. I find it to be super cute, and trendy!! Really easy to do too. Something like this.

    image

You can keep style it with a straight iron, or like PP suggested scrunch it up with some mousse, which would look cute since you've got natural wavy hair.
I used to have an inverted bob, and would love one again. They are really cute, and really easy! I also always felt like my hair looked really healthy. Here is a picture of me with my hair when I straightened it.

**I thought this picture was better... but it's the only one I have from the side. Doesn't really show the cut too well.**

Here is me though from the front view, when I had it curled a little bit.

I want to cut my hair like this again, but need to loose a little bit more weight, because I kinda feel like my face will look too round and chubby if I get it cut short again.

anyway- I also can't shower at night, because by the A.M. **like PP said** my hair looks greasy.

  • I like the kinda wavy natural way it is maybe just use a cream serum from middle to ends to polish it and give it shine. It's super easy and keeps a cool messy natural vibe that i personally love. that's just me though I'm kinda lazy :P
