Trying to Get Pregnant

Need help with possible pregnancy symptoms?

I JUST got off the pill in July, and I was most fertile around the time of my husband and I's honeymoon (August 2nd or so) well needless to say of course we were doing what normal honeymooners do...e
So I would love a baby. I have PCOS and unfortunately don't know how regular I am since getting off the pill. But now I am starting to have strange symptoms...nausea at random times (like my stomach is literally turning over) this has been stronger in the last couple of days. Diarrhea, stomach bloating and gas, also more severe in the last couple of days. I missed my period in August, but of course I take that sign with a grain of salt since I am normally not regular anyway. I also have dry mouth even with water and sometimes it's difficult to breathe. Very tired all the time too. Anyway these symptoms are not ALL the time, like I can go a week without having any and then bam there they are again. Breasts are not sore or anything but is this normal if I am pregnant?

No one can answer that for you.  Get a HPT and use it as directed.

  • Sorry. There is no way to know. It can take your body a long time to regulate itself though. I thought for sure I was pg the first month off the pill. Your body has to do everything itself now. You might be pg but you might not be. Best of luck!

Take a pregnancy test, it's the only way to know.

    I will tell you this:
    1) I had far more "symptoms" when I stopped BCP than I ever did when I was pregnant.
    2) The month I was so sure I was pregnant becomes of "symptoms": BFN & AF.
    3) The month I was sure I wasn't pregnant, we barely hit the fertile window because I was sick, and then my temp dropped at the end of my cycle, zero symptoms: BFP.

Symptoms mean nothing. Tests speak the truth.

  • WOW some people are so rude. Forgot to mention I took a pregnancy test came out negative. I AM NOT asking if I am pregnant, I am asking if it's normal for pregnancy symptoms to occur on and off in this way. I am asking if these are normal symptoms. I will take another pregnancy test soon, but for now I am wondering also if anyone else had these symptoms...
and to the person who made the smart a$$ remark about the Japanese food, diarrhea is easily a symptom.

Early pregnancy symptoms = pms symptoms.

  • Guuurl you left out the most important detail of the story. You can't be upset by the replies after you neglected that huge part of your post.

Lol! Yea it's the 1st thing that popped into my mind when I had to type in a username. Then I was hungry for a cone the rest of the day...
  • People copy and paste symptom lists on here all the time! You can't get upset by the answers you receive on an internet board full of strangers.

To answer your original question, yes they are all normal pregnancy symptoms. Does that mean you're pregnant? We can't tell you, but you know this. Just a side note here, those symptoms could also be PMS related, could be something you ate, could be anxiety related due to worrying about being pregnant, could be viral/bacterial. Relax and enjoy your new matrimonial bliss. Test once a week until you get a positive, get your period, or go 60 days with no period and no positive test, then call your dr to kick start a new cycle.

To this question, yes it's normal. Progesterone causes the symptoms which are the same for pregnancy and your period. We have a 2WW thread every day to talk about symptoms, feel free to post there if you need to vent.

We get these kinds of posts where people ask if they are pregnant every.single.day. You asked if symptoms were normal if you are pregnant, to me that sounds like you are asking if you are pregnant.

If you go 60 days without a period, go to your dr to get something to jump start your period.

    Good luck.
All of this. So if you took a test and it was negative, does that mean the symptoms you're having off and on are more reliable than a HPT?

Yes, it's normal for someone who is pregnant. But that is irrelevant because you are not pregnant at this time. If you are pregnant enough to have symptoms, you would be pregnant enough to turn a test positive. All these things are probably caused by something else.

My advice would be to keep having sex, and keep testing weekly until you get your period or a positive test. Good luck!

I think we need to start ignoring these posts altogether or just responding with the link to the newbie info. "could I be pregnant??" Makes.me.insane. Edit: I am being a cranky biotch, I realize this. Some of you ladies have more patience and are kinder than me I guess to keep answering this stuff!

  • I actually had, like, zero symptoms on my BFP cycle. No nausea, no bloat, no sore boobies, etc. I've had every one of those symptoms on my BFN cycles. Everyone is different.

The title of your post was 'needing help with possible pregnancy symptoms'. Of course you were asking if we thought you might be pregnant, come on!! You also 'neglected' to say in your original post that you took a test and it was negative, was that just because you wanted more in your post to convince us you might be pregnant? In any case, you've been given lots of good advice. Negative test means not pregnant, pretty simple really. And given you were able to google that whopping list of possible symptoms to try to convince us and yourself of your impending pregnancy, surely you could also have found that having strong pregnancy-like symptoms is very common in the months after coming off of birth control pills. I had pretty much every single one you listed for two straight months after my last pill, plus no period for almost those same two months, so convinced myself I was pregnant but wasn't. It's not rocket science, negative test means not pregnant no matter the symptoms.

  • Generally speaking, for one to have pregnancy symptoms, one must be pregnant.

If your test is negative, you're not pregnant.

Therefore, your symptoms are not pregnancy related.

Can we just copy this and make it the group motto or something? Maybe end it with "Have a nice day" or "Thank you, come again." lol

  • Not always true about the pregnancy test. My mom's pregnancy tests came out positive for 3 months with my last sibling...finally went to the dr and she is pregnant. It's not rocket science either that tests aren't always accurate... I genuinely feel that I am pregnant, and I will go to the doctor to confirm it whether i am or not to be sure.
    Thanks for the response.

Yes, but tests are a lot more sensitive nowadays than they were years ago. Chances are if it's negative, you're not pregnant right now. If that's not what you want to hear, good luck.

So let me get this straight - your mom tested for 3 months and got positive results and finally went to the doctor who confirmed that she was indeed pregnant? How exactly does that support your argument that hpts are not always accurate?

This is what I was thinking! If the hpt was positive, why did it take your Mum 3 months of testing to believe it??

    ::scratches head and raises eyebrows::
  • I'm so confused about the comment about your mom too. You used the present term "is pregnant" for her. are you and your mom both pregnant?! Omggggg so fun!
  • This whole thread confuses me. I'll never understand how people continue to argue against a negative test. I mean, since it's not rocket science, should that mean it's simple enough and straightforward enough for its result to be taken at face value?

Never!  I have a gut feeling.  Gut feelings outweigh science any day!

Ha! I'm guessing in the OPs gut feeling is just a random bout of diarrhea.
