DS used to chew on his sippy cup. We switched to a straw cup and he loves it. We actually just packed up all of his bottles and only use sippy cups , when he is not being nursed.

DD uses a straw sippie. She can drink really well from it, but does chew on the straw occasionally. I think the chewing is a product of teething. Initially DD used a non-straw sippie and she never drank from it, but learned quickly how to use the straw.
DS chews on his sippy cup, too, probably because of teething but also because he is still working on tipping it correctly. But I haven't started giving water or juice since he nurses quite often.
I introduced a straw sippie last weekend but DS hasn't figured it out yet. He just keeps chewing the straw. I ordered a leak proof Think Baby cup from Amazon. I'm sure there are good options elsewhere but I hate to shop and love Amazon.
