Babies on the Brain

I love free shit!

My cousin just gave us a 16 sets of flatware with the matching serving set. It came with a few extras. It belonged to my aunt who is now in a nursing home. H googled it to fun forks, since it is missing two. An 8 pc set is going for $350!

  • I want to buy the soup spoons, seafood forks, and other serving pieces. I figured I could spend the amount I would have used for a new set.

  • We scored a bunch of crystal when we moved into our new house.  It was 2 boxes label "Mr. pmarie and pmarie - crystal".  When I finally got around to unpacking them, omg.  Just omg.  One of the shorter sets only has 7, so I was trying to google it to see if I could find a match.  It turns out they are all Waterford.  6 sets of Waterford crystal glasses, goblets and wine glasses.  The one single glass I want is $75.

  • I have a vintage set of Corelle. It was the first pattern. I can't afford the replacement pieces. One saucer plate is $25.  H's great aunt has the same pattern. We were at her house a few months ago, I mentioned we have the same dishes. We were talking back and forth about them. I told her we are planning on buying replacement pieces to make a complete set. She told me not to,   when she dies we can have hers.  That's great Aunt F, but what do we do in the mean time?

I seriously love free stuff! Especially if it is vintage and has meaning. I remember eating off the dishes we have, as a kid. The flatware is from the same aunt. I remember eating ice cream with the spoon out of her crystal bowl. It was the highlight of my summer. I was wearing a pink shirt and yellow shorts with bedazzled pockets.
