I NIP'ed at the Guggenheim this weekend... It was not ideal but what would have been less ideal is a screaming hungry baby in an art gallery. Let's be honest. Where did you'all NIP this weekend? Extra points for unique locations!

Watching You Grow Everyday, Right Before Our Eyes!
So, I"m all for this, but I gotta ask -- have you guys actually had ISSUES with this? The few times I did NIP, nobody batted an eye, except maybe nosy little kids (at the zoo), who are just curious.
Maybe it is just where I live, but I always am so surprised that stuff like this even needs to be addressed-- I can't imagine giving or getting the side-eye regarding NIP.

Unfortunately, yes it does. Just this past Friday, I had two women approach me in Target while I was at a table in the cafe feeding DD. They not-so-kindly 'informed' me that "there's a bathroom for that so I should take it there." (They were not employees, just rude, uninformed customers.) Ironically, I NIP'ed at a family/team function for DH's team on Saturday (he's a college football coach) and no one batted an eye there!

ETA: I'm in the Twin Cities area.
I would have asked them if they liked eating in the Target bathroom! What jerks!
Oh, I did! They had been faux-whispering the entire time they were eating about whether or I not I was *gasp* BFing, so I wasn't surprised at their ignorance, just surprised that they had the gall to say something.

Dude, I would have lost my shit.
"I wanted you more than you'll ever know, so I sent love to follow wherever you go."
I feel fortunate enough to so far not have any issues the few times I have NIP, but am aware that other women have had issues. My husband is the Deacon of our church, and he does a lot of baptism, which translates to us going to a lot of baptism parties. I don't NIP at these really only due to my comfort level, I don't really think the people throwing the party or really to many other adults there would have an issue with it. I just don't feel the most comfortable doing so and my LO tends to have a harder time nursing when lots of people are around. Although recently we were at one party and he needed to eat, it was at a park so I went to another shelter to feed him. On my way over I hear one of the younger girls ask my husband where the milk is and his response was she makes it lol. Anywhere else that I have NIP I have not had any problems. I also feel fortunate that my home state (WA) people can say as much as they want and I have the law on my side.
I NIP all the time and so far haven't had any wayward comments (though it was My biggest fear for a while). But I live in Cali, and people here do all sorts of weird stuff and no one bats an eye. I've NIPd in Costco, Ikea, at the table in restaraunts...nbd.
@jillibean68 I'm in Cali too but unfortunately I do get a lot of the nose turner-uppers while I NIP, specifically from uppity bitches who carry their dogs in their purses. Anyways this weekend I NIP at Buffalo Wild Wings and at Target in the baby isle. I had to jump in the back seat while I was in the self car wash one time because DS was screaming his head off.
If by NIP you mean not use a cover, I never have. I even use my cover in the vehicle. I have not reached the comfort level to not use a cover yet. But I will nurse her anywhere using it. Side note I have a friend whose husband told her she better not nurse on their couch when they have company over. [-X She ended up formula feeding both of her kids. Yet I nurse on their couch whenever we are over and he's never said a word to me. Although I dare him to in front of my husband!!!! There would be words!!
DD and I are on the go all the time so I NIP all.the.time. I have gotten side eyed by older ladies but no one has had enough nerve to say anything to my face. We nurse in restaurants, the mall, parks, FI doctors appointments. Any and everywhere. If my baby is hungry I'm gonna feed her. Period.
People are such idiots. I NIP at the target cafe/Starbucks too! It was pretty empty though. I try to do it on purpose just to get the side eye so I can put people in their place. WTH is the big deal? On a day trip to NYC I parked my butt on a bench on 42nd street and nursed M with H, my sister, and dad waiting on us. My dad was pretty impressed that i did it. Lol
I didn't go anywhere this weekend, but the strangest place I've ever nursed was while riding Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland (a very nursing friendly place, btw; I've never had a problem nursing anywhere there). I've also never nursed with a cover. I don't have one, blankets are too unwieldy, and I just don't give a damn about what anyone might or might not see. Strangely enough, the only person who's ever said anything about that is my mother, who definitely supports the nursing but is concerned about whether or not I can be "discreet." Whatever that means.
I'm also wondering are you ladies using covers? I assumed yes and thought why would anyone have a problem with that??? Maybe a glimpse of breast is what makes some uncomfortable. Idk. Personally, if I was bf, I would have to use a cover for my own comfort level. To each his own though!
I don't use a cover. IMO, its a lot less attention drawing to just nurse; it just looks like I'm holding her. A cover, however, screams I'M DOING SOMETHING UNDER HERE I DON'T WANT YOU TO SEEEEEEE! Why else would you wear a blanket out in public?
I've had full conversations with people without them realizing I was nursing.

I would be comfortable NIP but my husband is not so the only "public" place I have been is in my car. A lot of people driving by but away from the wedding reception.

Good thing he's not the one with the boobs then, huh?

I wish I could NIP. My letdown is so strong my LO pulls off and milk flies everywhere in the beginning. Lol. I usually nurse in the car with a burp cloth nearby to catch all the flying milk in the beginning. People would seriously laugh at me if I NIP'ed.

Same thing here. I wear nursing tanks under everything so between the tank, whatever top I'm wearing, and DD's head, I'm nearly completely covered. I tried a cover exactly one time and it was unwieldy, hot, and drew more attention to what I was doing. We've nursed anywhere and everywhere and most people don't even notice. And DH is completely supportive. He would never imagine trying to tell me I couldn't/shouldn't nurse somewhere.
With my first I never NIP-ed and always took a bottle if I was going out ot to someone else's house. This time around it is the complete opposite. Getting myself, a 3 year old and baby out of the house is challenging enough without having to remember a bottle. I never use a cover because it seems more awkward and too hot.
I NIP fairly often. Usually restaurants, occasionally a mall or other store. I sometimes use a small blanket when I'm getting started, but not always the whole time. It really depends on who I'm with. Oddly, nursing in public doesn't phase me unless we're with friends - it's the friends that I don't want seeing my boob.
I NIP in public often but typically in the car if LO is really hungry. I have huge boobs and he nurses best in the football hold which is just awkward in public. Last week I nursed on the plane from Dublin to Chicago, it was hard but it got him to sleep so I'm sure everyone was happy I breastfed him
