baby food prep and breastmilk

this is probably a stupid question, but here goes.....so frozen breastmilk has a life of 5 months, right? Well, what if the milk has reached it's five month expiration, but you use that milk to prepare/puree baby food...can it be frozen again and for longer?

Re: baby food prep and breastmilk

  • From what I've read, frozen breast milk has a life of 3-6 months in a freezer that's attached to the fridge. A chest freezer, I believe is 6-12 months. I could be wrong about this, but I am pretty sure that you are not suppose to refreeze breast milk once it is thawed. It would probably be best to add the breast milk to the puree after the puree is thawed and you are getting ready to serve it to your baby.
