WWYD - pedi

I want to switch pedi's. Current pedi I love but it's almost an hour away and his pedi is no longer available on my days off. I set up an appt for his 12 mo last week but were refused to be seen for being 11 minutes late and I don't want to go back there. The other closest pedi doesn't have openings until October, when he'll be 14 months (he's due for 12 mo vaccines). He can be seen at the place we've been going on my day off next week but with a nurse practioner. To be seen by his reg pedi, I would either have to rearrange my work schedule which is a pain or take a day off unpaid, which is not practical. I have some questions about feeding & milk so I'd rather not wait until October. Would you wait until Oct to go to new pedi, see nurse practioner never seen before, or rearrange schedule to see reg pedi now and switch later?

    I don't see the difference between seeing a NP you've never seen before and new pediatrician you've never seen before, really. IME, NPs are far more helpful/knowledgeable than most doctors I know.

    I'd see the NP, then switch pediatricians.

    @bigbootijudi I just felt DS should see a.medical doctor whose specific area is children. I recently was misdiagnosed by a NP and ended up in the ER so I'm a little hesitant. @piphigirl - that is hilarious.

    @piphigirl - that is hilarious.

    Drs can misdiagnose too. It's not limited to just mid-level providers. All people are flawed and mistakes happen. That's why medicine is "practice".
    I'd see the NP and get your kid vaccinated so you don't get behind for the 15 month shots.

    I'd see the NP this one time, as long as there isn't any medical concerns you want to address. Me and dh are both medical, and still prefer not to see a NP when possible. Just personal preference.

    I would see the NP too. I actually preferred the NP at DD's pedi office. She was always SO thorough with DD.
