We need another NOT STTN post

Also reminder this is NicoleSB, i cant remember my login. ;(

Every time I read a new STTN post I want to cry. I'm happy for the luck of those Mommys but I need to get LO sleeping longer than 2 hrs. I am beyond exhausted, irritalble (side note DH had the nerve to tell me I was being mean all the time yesterday and got a big FU back) and just dying for a sleep stretch myself longer than 2hrs.

We EBF, some nights she gets a pumped bottle, most nights she nurses. We have our bedtime routine if bath, story, lotion, Jammies (sleep suit for now). She sleeps from 7 to 11ish and then wakes every 2 hrs after that and is usually up for the day at 630.

The sleep suit got us that first 4 hr stretch and extended the other feeding from 1.5-2 or 2.5 hrs.

Problem is by the time I get up, feed her an then get myself back to sleep its only about and hour before she wakes up. People keep telling me it will get better at 6 months but I don't know if I can take it. The more tired I get the harder it is to deal with LO during the day.

Post you NSTTN stories so we can all feel a little better knowing we aren't alone with a "broken" baby.

  • Connor is still not sleeping through the night. I am glad for those who have babies that do, Connor used to, but to be honest my insomnia is so bad I would be checking up on him anyways in the middle night so a few 10 minute bottle feeds and going straight back to sleep isn't bothering me too bad anymore.

  • Rhys used to STTN but usually doesn't anymore. I now feed him side lying in our bed in the MOTN so that I can doze while he eats. I will wake up and he will be sleeping next to me. At that point I put him in his crib. I keep pillows and blankets away from his head and he nurses/sleeps in the crook of my arm so that he can't roll away. Although he still isn't rolling. It makes the MOTN feedings a little better when I can doze through them and he still does most of his sleeping in the crib. Just an idea if you're comfortable with it! PS - bring back the flowerpot pic!!

  • Camden is not STTN!! His sleeping this last month has been crazy!! He has been having multiple wake ups and now he is waking up for the day between 4:30am and 5:30am! We also have a bed time routine that we have followed for months. Now when we put him down for bed he screams his head off. Last night we did CIO! After 25 min of crying he went to sleep. CIO sucks but I'm willing to try anything at this point. I hate when people say oh it will get better.. I'm like when?! When will it??!! Right now I'm not so sure cause it just keeps getting worse!

Our super fun night last night had her screaming from 305-510. :-/.

If I could easily fall back asleep it would be one thing but I have a hard time going to sleep, even when I'm dead tired.
  • Not STTN!!!! Our bedtime routine (bath, story, nurse, swaddle, rocking) gets us to sleep by about 9. He wakes up 10 minutes later, no joke, and is WIDE AWAKE for the next forty minutes. Then, he'll sleep for two hours and is up again. M wakes up every two-three hours all.night.long. And there's usually only one three hour stretch immediately followed by up the next hour. It's insane. From 5-9 (on my days off) we bed share just so I can sleep. My H has never been up in the MOTN to get M back to sleep EVER. it has been me every.single.night since April 16th. (To be fair, I've not asked him to get up. The *maybe* one time he did, M was up for hours whereas if I get up, he immediately falls back to sleep. We're right there with ya!

  • Ceci is not STTN and never has. DH has also never gotten up with her, but I wouldn't be asleep anyway, I would be up listening to him. She is usually awake 2-3 times per night. I usually wait to go to bed until after she wakes up between 11-12 because it is the ONLY time the entire day that I get to myself. Then I feed her, put her in the RNP next to my bed and when she wakes up again between 2-3 I put her in bed with me and nurse her laying down. She usually wakes again between 4-5. She fusses and squirms and kicks, but I pay her back and pray that she goes back to sleep until at least 7 when my older 2 are usually up.

She is by far my best sleeper though. My other 2 were up ever 1-2 hours every night until over 1 year old with the first, we finally did CIO which was awful but worked. I did CIO a little earlier with #2 but it never worked we'll and she was still up at least 1x per night well past her 1st bday and has started waking up in the middle of the night again which is awesome.

  • DD1 STTN from 10 weeks to 4 months and then not again until she turned 5 years.

DD2 has just started STTN occasionally. She turned 3 in July.

DD3's sleep is getting worse. She now sleeps from 9-midnight and then is up every 1.5-2 hours until morning. The only way she'll go back to sleep in the MOTN is with nursing. DH also started snoring recently, so I basically get my sleep in 1 hour intervals.

  • Not sleeping well here either and I'm at my wits end.  DD is obviously overtired because of her fussiness but the kid just won't sleep! We start bedtime routing around 6:30 and she is usually asleep by 7.  She then wakes up 30-60 min. later and I have to nurse her back to sleep again by 8ish.  She is usually up again between 11-1 and then ever hour or 2 after that until 6 or 7 am.

The only thing that will get her back to sleep at night is me nursing her even though I know she isn't hungry. DH tried to take over the nights for me last weekend so I could get some rest which resulted in her thinking it was play time and not wanting to sleep for him and being even more cranky.  She is also a terrible napper and only takes 30 min. naps and refuses to nap in her crib.

I'm so cranky and tired every day and I just hope we can get her sleeping better soon.  I want to enjoy my baby and feel like the over tiredness is taking a toll on all of us.  We are thinking of sleep training soon but have no idea where to start.
  • DS's sleeping has no predictability! The best he's ever done is sleeping around 9 hours total with one wake up. He did that for a few weeks. Now I'm lucky if he sleeps a total of 8 hours at night and that's with around 3 wake ups. I still will only feed him one of those wake ups. The others, he wants me to rock him back to sleep. It's exhausting! He isn't a particularly good napper either.

Sounds like my LO. Occasionally, she will do an 8 hour stretch and I'll think we're maybe getting somewhere, but the older shet gets the less and less common it is :(

She does a little longer though - about 10 hours total, but typically up 3 times, most frequently within the first 3 hours of going down.......And I'm a sucker and plop her on the boob every time she wakes up beacuse it's easiest and I can rest...... I really need to work on that.

  • Our nights keep getting worse and worse.

When he was a NB to around 3 months, he slept for a 4 to 5 hours stretch to start the night and then would wake up to eat every 2 hours.

Then I went back to work and like chgibeau above, he isn't eating a whole lot from a bottle during the day so he now power eats all night long.  His longest stretch is 2.5 hours now, and I go to bed with him at 8:30 (just to get some sleep).  His schedule is locked on waking to eat at 11pm, 1am, 3am and 5am (when I get up anyways), and he won't usually go back down so my poor DH is now up with him every morning from 5am to 9am when he brings him to daycare.

there is a whole lot of cranky going around our household!
