S/O scratching.

Does anyone's baby scratch the crib/sheets/whatever? We are just starting to work on getting rid of the swaddle (since Friday) and are doing one arm out for now. DD scratches her sheets. All. Night. Long. Last night it drove me so crazy that I got up and put her arm back in the swaddle. My guess is its comforting/soothing to her but my goodness is it loud. I felt like she was going to wake the whole house!!
Plus it sounds really creepy. Like reminds me of that urban legend with hook on the car....*shudder*

Re: S/O scratching.

  • We use a sheet saver and little man tends to rub his hand back and forth on it. It's a smooth material so it doesn't make a noise. Perhaps try mittens or a sound machine to drown out the noise?? Lol at your urban legend comment

  • My first wasn't a sheer scratching soother, but she would pick her legs up and slam them back down all night long in a similar fashion. Uou could hear it all the way dow stairs. I had to turn the monitor off to get any sleep.
  • Yup - my LO has been doing this for a few weeks now. It's how she wakes me up in the morning. I suppose there are worse ways but there have been a few times where I couldn't figure out what the noise was and thought someone was in our house. Haha. She just recently started hardcore scratching the back of her head while nursing and has left a few scratch marks in spite of me being super careful about keeping her nails short. Drives me nuts!

  • Not usually, but DS was doing that tonight while falling asleep. It was really loud! I can't imagine how annoying that would be all night long!

  • I was wondering this too. She does scratch at the sheets too. Also the top of her head and my arms. I have started noticing her nails a lot more now and trim as often as I can
