After Birth Control

I am very confused if my self diagnosed "fertility issues" are the cause of years of birth control. I am 35 and will be 36 in November. I was on bc for 20 years. I got off bc in Jan. and after I got married in April DH and I really started ttc. When I got off bc I had my regular withdrawal bleeding but then didn't have a period until March and then I didn't have another period until recently Aug. 7th after taking Vitex for a month or so. So this past week I had another period (yes 2 in one month) and this period was very intense a lot of cramps and clots (sorry tmi) so I stopped taking Vitex immediately. I have been charting my temp over the past week and it is all over the place one day it was 96.9 and up to 97.4. I started testing using OPKs even before my period started, and I have never received a peak or +. I use the kind that gives you peak and high fertility readings. I have only received high readings so I am assuming my estrogen is okay but I don't get the lh surge. Can I continue to blame bc for all of this irregularity or lack of ovulation? And again I am self diagnosing my lack of ovulation.
Me: +35 DH: +35
TTC: Since January 2013 
DX: PCOS. Severe Endometriosis, Unicornuate Uterus w/only left tube and left ovary, Pedunculated fibroid (on the outside of uterus) and Anovulation. All conditions diagnosed 8/13
TX: Metformin
DH DX: MFI - low morphology, low motility
Ultrasound shows both kidneys in spite of UU. 
HSG showed clear tube on the left side. 
Lap Surgery performed 1/9/14 to remove fibroid and endo (Stage 3)
  • IUI# 1 June 2014 started 100 mg of Clomid - 7dpiui Progesterone: 13: BFN
  • IUI#2  July 2014 started 100 mg of Clomid - 7dpiui Progesterone: 5.75: BFN
  • Natural Cycle - so shocked to be in 2WW - 7dpo Progesterone: 15.5: BFN
  • Working with new RE starting injectables in late August.
  • IUI #3 August 2014  w/ Menopur: BFN
  • Finally ovulating on my own!!
Waiting to start IVF hopefully

    I was only on BC for 2 years and my cycles were wonky for a long time after. So I can only imagine what it would be like after 20 years.
    I would bring up all your concerns with your doctor. Have they tested your hormone levels? I would say that is a good start.
    Good luck and I hope you get back on a good cycle soon.

    I have never been on birth control but I understand it can take a LONG time to get a regular cycle.  Charting is a good start and if you have been trying over 6 months then I would talk  to your doctor.  ALso...don't self-diagnose.. I know it is hard.   And NEVER take anything not approved by your doctor...vitex can actually mess you up worse!

     IUI #1-#4 BFNs and a few cancelled cycles in the mix.
    - poor responder
    ***Suprise BFP on 6/13/13. Natural MC @6wks 3days
    IVF#1 and 2- Cancelled due to no response on max stimms
    FET 5/20- BFP
    1st Beta- 641
    2nd beta- 2166
    Sono- TWINS!!!!
    Two Boys! Born January 2015 @36 weeks.  Healthy and no NICU!  So blessed!

    Thank u guys...I made an appointment with OB today...fingers crossed for a positive result on Monday. I also started charting I feel like I am really am TTC! Lol!
    Me: +35 DH: +35
