6 hours!

How long my baby has been sleeping (and is still currently asleep)! This is a new record for us. It's day 3 for sleep training and also moving over to her crib (we were bed sharing). I had posted about how she was using me as a human pacifier and had been waking up every hour to two hours wanting to suck. She now sucks on her hands- thank goodness!!! I just wanted to post this for anyone else struggling with their baby sleeping. Hang in there, it will get better!

Edited: As a side note she just woke up so she almost slept 7 hours! And I pumped for 4 minutes on both sides and got 3 oz. I'm usually lucky to get an ounce from one side pumping for 15 mins. Very happy!

  • Well I nurse her until she falls asleep. Remove boob and rock more while she's sleeping. I walk over to her crib rocking her in my arms then place her in but still hold her. She kept waking up when I would put her in before so now when I put her down I sneak her butt out first and then sneak her head out and then put one hand on her head and one on her butt until she gets settled. So on day 1 it took an hour and 15 to get her to sleep, day 2 it took 50 mins and last night, day 3, it took 30 mins. She woke up an hour later last night after I put her down to sleep. Her cry sounded tired so I just let her cry and whine for a bit and she found her hands and sucked on them and fell back asleep. If her cry had escalated I would've picked her up and rocked her til she fell asleep again- I'm not big on crying. She cried a lot more on day 1 and I had DH help me, less on day 2 and even less on day 3. I am so thankful she found her fingers and has been using them to self soothe. Oh she sleeps in a Woombie, zipped under her armpits. If she wakes up about 2+ hours after a feeding I'll nurse her back to asleep. If its less than that 2 hours I pretty much assume she isn't hungry so I just rock her. Who knows what day 4 (tonight) will hold but I felt like we were at rock bottom so this is such an improvement. The first night sucked pretty badly. I now need to work on moving up her bedtime which I start around 9:30 now. So hopefully I can just slowly move it up in the coming weeks. It seems pretty simple but it's worked so far for us.
