Could this really be?

I pumped a ton this week in an effort to create a stash for the sitter.  I was unable to pump anything more than 2oz.  This includes my first feed of the day when I am full from the night.  I couldn't believe it.  Is it really possible that I am only feeding LO 2oz at a time?  I know pumps don't work the same as the baby but geez!  I'm never going to make enough if this keeps up.  Help please!

    I think that just means LO is draining your boobs efficiently. I get usually 2-3 oz after the morning feed, sometimes 4, but the 2 times I've been away for a half or almost full day I got 7 oz. when i pumped. don't worry yet!

    No.  Pump really doesn't work the same.  Some babies eat 5 oz and mom can only pump 1/2 an oz at a missed feeding.  Some people just don't respond well to pumping.

    I experienced the same thing. Are you an occasional pumper like me? I also thought it was crazy to get only 2 to 3 oz when I'm full, but then I read in kellymom that it's perfectly normal.

    Don't worry, you're not alone! I am occasional pumper and my body responds like crap to the pump. On the weeks I work more and need to pump more often, I load up on lactation cookies and chug water like crazy. This boosts my pumping output from 2 oz to 4 oz. I certainly wasn't "squirting like a fire hose" ( 8-| ) but it definitely helped. Hope it helps for you too!

    Have you checked all your pump parts to make sure the suction is good? I remember using the soft, flexible pump flanges, and I got much better output when I replaced them.
