Northern California Babies

Walnut Creek/Concord Area

Hi!  I am new to the area and 10 weeks with my first :)  I don't have a job yet, and could use advice on midwives, prenatal classes, fun baby stores, exercising, birth classes, etc...

Also, I have no friends yet, so I could use some of those too :)  Or just advice, I like that too :P

Re: Walnut Creek/Concord Area

  • Welcome. Im fr the hayward area. I have a 6 month old daughter and am a first time momma.

I dont know if ibhave any advice for your area, but i dealt with sutter health with mt entire pregnancy. I know they have offices in pleasanton.

    Congrats and happy mothers day!
  • Welcome to the area and congrats on your pregnancy.  I am 10 weeks along with my 1st as well.  We just had our first sonogram this week, so exciting.

I live in Pleasant Hill and work in Walnut Creek.  I am just coming off about 5 weeks of the worst "all day nausea" (whoever called it "morning" sickness" didn't have a clue :) I"ve ever experienced. I'd like to get back into moving my body more that just from the couch to the bed.

     How is your pregnancy going?

  • Hi. I'm in WC and 28 weeks. Are you looking for a Kaiser doctor or a nonKaiser doctor? I have been doing all of my prenatal, appts and classes through Kaiser WC and have had a good experience so far.
  • Hi and congratulations!

I live in Pleasant Hill and my little guy is 7 weeks old tomorrow. I had Kaiser and took their birthing classes and prenatal yoga. Bloom in downtown WC has yoga options- I was told you can also take beginning yoga classes as long as you leave enough room for the belly to hang by keeping your knees open wider (and by using your common sense). Stroller Strides in WC might be a good option for you to exercise and meet other moms (Google it). Baby stores: DayOne, Buy Buy Baby...sadly Giggle just closed, but the one in SF is still open.

  • Hi there,

Congrats on your pregnancy! We just found out last Thursday we are 6 weeks pregnant, so exciting.

    Where did you move from?

  • I'm in the area too and always open to meet-ups!

I go to ob-gyn specialists in Walnut Creek and they are great! (Non-Kaiser). We have also set up to take classes through the John Muir Birthing Center.

If you are interested in prenatal yoga (starting around 15 weeks) Type A Yoga on Gregory in Pleasant Hill is great.

As far as stores, check out Rockridge kids in Oakland and Sprout in SF on Union Street in addition to the local WC stores.

  • Hi :
I'm in Brentwood but my OB practice operates in Walnut Creek as well and I delivered there. My daughter is 5 months today
My OB with John muir medical and they were wonderful. They have an OB/GYN office there in walnut creek, the hospital is there, i took my classes there, and I also had my 5mo US when pregnant
So you're in a good area
I trust John muir, I've had a lot of bad hospital experiences at kaiser when I was young and they're very nice. My labor room was private and it was pretty big.my recovery room was also private, the bathroom was nice and it was a good size as well. I had a great experience with John muir
My doctors were Hughes, Hannah, and Katz. I don't know the address off the top of my head but I'm sure you could google it :
    Congrats!
  • Hi!  I'm in Concord and am a mere 5w4d along :)

Don't have pregnant friends here and haven't done anything prenatal yet besides the usual diet change, so don't know anything about classes or advice yet.  I am hoping my OB will have some options I can share with you :)

Congratulations & Welcome to the area!

  • Hi!
I live in Martinez but work in WC. I'm 14 weeks and would love to GTG with some locals. I wish the baby stores in WC were still open now that they actually apply to me :)
  • Hi! I am in Walnut Creek as well. I am 6weeks and I also have a 4y son. I am a SAHM with part time business on the side.
