Help - 4 Month Old Swaddle Issues

Hi! I posted this on my orther bmb, but since you are all seasoned mommas, thought Id post here too to see if anyone has a suggestion for me...

My 4 month old still needs to be swaddled when he sleeps - otherwise he constantly wakes himself up with his hands. They go right to his face & mouth. Problem is, he is getting so big & strong that he is breaking out of his swaddles everybtime he wakes, and waking more frequently at night bc of it. I am considering the Woombie for this reason. Anyone tried that?

Also, he is still sleeing in the RNP bc he will roll over while swaddled if he's flat on his back in the crib. I can see he's beginning to outgrow it, so I am having a mini panic attack.

Looking for suggestions. I would be fine letting him sleep on his tummy at this point, but he just grunts and groans and fusses if I just put him down unswaddled on his tummy. If I swaddle & him and put him in the RNP, he's out like a light (until he breaks out of it).

I didnt have any of these issues with my first, we never even swaddled him, so this is new territory for me. TIA!

  • Maybe get a swaddle strap? Not sure if she's still around much, but I know sntotolo from April 13 made a few for other Bumpies. Maybe give her a shout?

  • I think that was the point we switched over to the Miracle Blanket. DS slept in that thing until he was around 6 months I think? He loved it.

  • Maybe try leaving him free during naps but swaddle at night so he can get used to his arms while you still get a good nights sleep? Then once he gets used to it at naps try it at night?
