Do you have an Adam or Gavin?

How popular is it?  We are trying to decide to name baby Adam James or Gavin James.  Can't seem to make a decision!

  • I don't have either but I like Gavin!

  • I vote Adam. For some reason, Gavin is so awkward for me to say.

  • I don't have either but I've been thinking Gavin. I only know one kid named Gavin in any of my social circles and he's like 6.

  • My son's name is Gavyn...pronounced as Gavin, just spelled differently. I love it bc its not a super commom name, plus the spelling makes it a little more unique.

  • No but that's because we know 4 Gavin's under 5yo. That and Liam seem to be really popular around here.

Carson Henry, born 39w, 2d, via emergency c/s due to no fetal movement and fetal distress.  Seizures, IVH grade 2, brain injury, kidney and liver damage.  Complete blood clot in the artery in his right arm.  27 days in the NICU.  Now discharged from all specialists, excepts his kidney doctor, who will monitor him indefinitely.  My tough little cookie.

  • I don't but Gavin is on our list for this one. I have an Olivia so obviously I don't really care about popularity.

  • I know an Adam. It's too biblical for me, but I like the name.
    Gavin is not my style.

Gavin is popular right now, Adam isn't a trendy name. It comes down to your personal preference.

My DS is Matthew. It's a classic name, so I thought we might come across it more. We've only met one other child named Matthew (in a swim class) and there aren't any other Matthews in his entire kindergarten (three classes of 25 kids each). So you never know.

Here's the link to the social security list of names. Adam was 80 something in 2012 and Gavin was in the 40's, so both are in the 100 and are fairly popular. James is very popular middle name. I think both names are nice, I prefer Adam James. Either way they are both pretty popular names, which is perfectly fine.

  • Adam and Gavin are both really nice names. Of course, I am partial because DS is Gavin Nicholas. I loved it when my husband suggested it as his top choice baby name and I still love it! I don't know any other Gavins personally but I do hear the name sometimes.

I also have a Gavin michael. (Michael is dh's uncle who passed away name) my Gavin was born 6 weeks ago. It is making it's way to be popular. I wouldn't be surprised if it makes it into the top 20 this year.
