Stocking up?

Anyone else stocking up on baby items? Being I'm not having a baby shower, every time I go to target I grab a pack of diapers and a box of wipes, I just also bought 6 bottles & nipple replacements for $38! score! Loving the online sales this weekend too!

Re: Stocking up?

  • Yes, I am stocking up like its the apocalypse. I only buy stuff on sale or clearance right now. That's my rule! And if you can't get diapers for under 20 cents per diaper, buy on Amazon!

  • I paid $8.99 for size 1 pampers swaddlers with 40 diapers so about .22 a diaper, I'd say that's close enough to a good price

Yeah that's not bad. Just avoid buying them not on sale. The diapers are what will really be the big expense over time. You can't really buy diapers at resale stores like you could the baby gear and stuff.

  • I have stocked up on diapers and wipes, paying practically nothing thanks to my SIL's couponing.
  • I'm looking forward to black Friday and Cyber Monday. I'm thinking that maybe it is REALLY good that we're all due in December so hopefully can get some awesome deals then!!!

I am waiting until then for the baby gear that I need. I am due at the end of Dec so I feel comfortable with that. Thats how I bought my video baby monitor for half off last year. Amazon has that black friday deal week!

I was told not to stock up on diapers. Not all brands work for all babies. Plus, you don't know if your baby will have sensitive skin or not. I decided to put funds for diapers in a savings account instead of actually buying them yet.

I figured it would be the same if someone bought a bunch of different brands for a baby shower, you can always exchange it if its unopened, that's why I'm only buying from target so I know what store it's coming from, I know every baby is different but I used the pampers swaddlers for my daughter and loved how they fit her so that's why I'm going with them this time around too.

True. I could only use pampers for my girls and my friend preferred Huggies for her boy. I have mostly Huggies because they keep going on sale, some pampers and one case of luvs. But they are usually easy to swap out at Walmart.
  • I have been buying a lot of stuff and also saving up all the money I can for stuff!

I thought about that too, and with DD the only ones that didn't work were Costco because they leaked pretty bad. Luckily I only tried them because a friend passed them down to me. Diapers are always on sale somewhere, so a savings account is a good idea too. I did buy a giant box from Amazon, but they were $6 so I won't feel bad if they don't work out. I have mostly been stocking up on big sizes for DD 1, they keep popping up on clearance for 50% off. I already know her diaper preferences. She hates the Target ones!

I did buy a large amount of wipes, but they are the unscented sensitive ones anyway. If you can hold off until right before you're due, you can buy because then you can exchange them if they don't work out. DH works in a retail store so I can return stuff there if I need to (because that's where I buy them on clearance. Plus the extra employee discount.)

I think I rambled there a little, sorry.

  • I stocked up on diapers with DD and it was totally fine. If you buy them from the same store, you can always exchange.

I'm going to look into amazon. Where do you guys get your coupons?
You will want to sign up for Amazon Mom if you haven't, that will get you an extra 20% off diapers automatically. It's free to sign up. I think it's free shipping too, I have Prime so I already get free 2 day shipping. If there are any manufacturer coupons it will tell you when you're shopping so it will apply that to your purchase. I have yet to find cheaper diapers, no one can beat Amazon because they don't have all that overhead like stores do.

  • Amazon or diapers.com. I need to compare the prices and shipping. I have amazon prime too so shipping is free and I plan on starting to buy bulk wipes and diapers next month so it doesn't all hit me at once. I'm also all over the sales at Carter's and when baby gap has 40% off.

The Sunday paper or Huggies.com, pampers.com, etc. then look for ads. CVS runs sales like a pack for 9.99 then spend $30 on Huggies products get $10 or $20 back on your card. I pay around $3 -4.50 a pack.
  • My closet is filling up with formula. My milk didn't come in last time, so I'm assuming I'm FF again. I stacked enfamil checks with coupons today and saved $39!

  • Just a note that Amazon mom doesn't work if you're Canadian... :(
  • I've gotten a bunch of little 6 month summer outfits at Khol's and BRU on clearance for $2 - 4 each. Too good of a deal to pass up (besides, I've been dying to buy adorable little girl clothes).

  • Just an FYI, Amazon Mom is only free for 3 months if you don't already have a Prime membership.

I've been stocking up on diapers using CVS Extra bucks and combining them with mfr coupons and gift cards that I earn from using the Viggle app on my phone.

I also hit the baby clearance section at every store I go to. We're Team Green, so it's been a little harder to stock up on clothes for next summer, but I've still managed to find a few things.

I've also been using coupons to stock up on non-perishable items and toiletries for DH and I. That way I won't have to worry about running out of something late in pregnancy or when I have a newborn.

Hi all - How are you deciding what types/sizes of diapers to buy? I feel like I can buy them but I'm clueless on what sizes or how many to stock up on....
