Freak out!!!

I am NOT prepared! Nothing has been done in the nursery. Everything is picked out, but nothing ordered. I'm losing my mind today!!!!!!

Ok, I just had to get that off my chest.

Re: Freak out!!!

  • I have a lot of clothes and blankets...maybe he can just sleep in those. LOL My issue is my snoring husband sleeps in the bedroom that will become the nursery, so if I get it ready, he has to be allowed back in my bed. :(
  • Don't worry I feel you! I see people post photos of their nurseries and I'm thinking, oh no, I'm way behind! I have her bedroom half way cleared out and hope to start painting soon... But, I'm not stressing it, it'll all get done in no time ;)

  • Nothing in ours is done either.  I did sell a papasan chair that was sitting in there on craigslist though!  And there are some clothes hanging in the closet, due to a freak out I had about a month ago.  But that's it.

    There's time, right? ;)

  • I did this yesterday. Then I went and had a nice long cry and felt better.

  • Yes, there's time...because you are farther along than me! Yay! You are way less prepared. ;) Totally kidding! What's your due date, btw @thesportsgal ?
  • We are at the same place - we have been slowly clearing it out, but I am waiting until after my showers before I buy stuff myself. We have only bought a few outfits. All I can say is -EH! It'll happen when it happens. I tend to get obsessive over projects, but it just hasn't happened yet.
  • I could take a pic of our nursery to make you feel better. We have done nothing except talk about about what we're going to do. You'll get it all done, I'm sure.

  • Oh don't you fret, my dear, I still haven't cleared our room either.  I've been picking up cute clothes here and there, and aside from a bouncer I found at a garage sale last week, I have nothing.  No large purchases whatsoever.  H is insisting we wait until after my over abundance of showers (3), but it still feels weird not having even painted the room.

  • My husband and I bought paint for our nursery last night. We haven't picked out furniture or anything yet. I have bought a few baby outfits, but that is about it.

All I have are clothes, stroller, car seat and pack n play. I still haven't gotten the crib. The idea of doing so kind of scares me. I'll probably get it closer to her due date.

Me too. Thinking about ordering crib and changing table/dresser today. My stroller did come to my door step.
  • The nursery is still in the process of being painted. I haven't ordered any furniture or anything also. I feel like I'm way behind. :-S
  • Eh, it'll be fine. As a STM, I know it's true that newborn babies don't need much, at least not right at first. of course, that won't stop me from freaking out about having nothing done in 3...2...

I just read an article how the 6th month is the freak out month, hugs

  • I am not freaking out yet, but I am sure I will be soon. I still have stuff hanging up and room decorated from DD and she hasn't been in there for 3 months. Her new room is done, but the nursery is at a standstill.

Considering we have about 3 months left, we better get going! I have no desire to do anything yet though.

  • This was me yesterday, I had a complete meltdown that sent poor SO's headspinning. We've actually gotten alot already and made ALOT of progress in the LO's room... but we don't have a crib and apparently I just couldn't handle the idea of my baby not having a crib or unfinished baseboards in his bedroom. It's all working itself out though. It'll get done, try not to stress because you've got all the hard stuff out of the way by having it all picked out!

  • I'm on team "totally unprepared thing-wise" as well.  SOLIDARITY.

  • We're converting the kids' 2nd floor playroom into a nursery.  So far I've cleared out the toys and carried in two 5 gallon buckets of primer and ceiling paint.  That was a month ago.  No progress has been made since.

  • Oh I have nothing done either. We have a crib, because we moved DD1 to a toddler bed. But the baby is going to go in the room where DD1 is now, and we aren't moving DD1 to DS's room til the last minute(Novemberish) so there will nothing done until then!

  • My DH is the one freaking out (sometimes he is more like a pregnant lady than I am) I had to talk him off the ledge just yesterday and remind him that we still have sometime and we already have some of the big items taken care of so I actually feel like we are in good shape. But every now and then I look in the cluttered room that is supposed to be LOs room and panic on the inside for a minute or two.

  • So glad to see I'm not the only one who's behind on the nursery! I just started cleaning it out this week, haven't finished. We're not changing the paint color so that's one step I can skip! But I figured I'd do most of the organizing & buying of things after my shower. Tough thing is I'll be just past 8 months for my shower and I'll be in school... hopefully I get it all done in time!
  • We haven't done shit. Don't feel bad! I haven't talked about it because I don't want to jinx it, but we're moving! Before the baby is born. So I can't set anything up anyway. I just figure what does she really need? A bed, a boob, some clothes... That's what I'm telling myself so I don't freak out :)

  • I have been there for the last week. I reorganized all the baby clothes we kept and made a list of stuff we still need, and then the app on my phone where I made the list deleted it.

I have just randomly been buying clothes since then, because of the Carter's sale and the Gymboree sale and all the sales! Living where I do, in the PNW I just assume long sleeved shirts will be appropriate all year except July and August. I am waiting for the fuzzy pajamas to come out so I can buy some in NB and 3 month sizes. I also have stocked up on diapers because of the clearance section at the grocery store that closed and Amazon.

    I still feel completely unprepared.

And DD1 just started sleeping in her own room Thursday night. After 2 years in my room. I AM SO FUCKING EXCITED ABOUT THAT!

  • There is zilch done in my house as well. Although I have to give major kudos to my DH for scoring an awesome rocker for $25 at a garage sale. It looks brand new. That's about as far as I have gone. I picked paint colors. I made a Pinterest board. That says something right?

  • You still have plenty of time.  If it makes you feel better we still have to have new drywall installed in DS1's room so we can move him out of the nursery.  Then both his room and the nursery have to be painted.  We also still have to order all of the furniture for DS1's room.
  • We pick up our keys to the new place on the 18th of Sept. right now the room looks like this: And we have NOTHING. No I take it back we have cloth diaper covers.

That's what our room looks like too.  At least it's empty I guess.  My husband said this week he wants to put bead board up before he paints it and I'm like

  • I've been slowly but surely getting to the point of freaking out. We have nothing, nor are we allowed to get anything prior to baby coming, because my family all thinks it's bad luck.

I haven't even had a chance to register at Buy Buy Baby. We are hopefully going to do that on Monday!

On top of all that we are house hunting and hopefully will be moving mid-October as long as everything goes through.

So I'm not at a complete freak-out stage, but definitely getting there. I feel like there are so many things to choose from and consider for what we need, and don't even know where to start!

  • I'm in the same boat.. We're moving on October 8th.. So we can't do anything until then. We did buy a pack n play last week. And my mom bought us a few outfits. But that's all we have. Nothing else. I try not to read the threads about everyone's cute nurseries because it stresses me out.. Lol. Deep breath. We'll all get everything done in time. And if we don't, baby probably won't know the difference. :)

  • We bought our paint today and have the crib. But it's not put together and we have nothing else really. I just want it all done before my shower. So we have 6 weeks.

So I was wondering about the bad luck thing. Is it still bad luck if you have baby stuff from the first baby in the house that you're intending to use for the second? I think if you can at least register and pick stuff out you're almost there anyway!
