This baby will take over DS room. We went gender neutral with him because DH and I hate decorating and didn't want to redo a nursery for any future babies. We went with a jungle animal theme.

Eta comprehension fail. I'm a STM and didn't see the post below.

  • Blue or pink for sure. I'm a FTM and this is the first grandchild for my parents and for DH's parents so everyone is super excited and ready to go completely overboard with buying stuff - this is going to be one spoiled rotten baby. I'm really looking forward to decorating the nursery and I don't care that lo won't remember what it looked like...I sure will and I can't wait!
  • I won't be doing pink for a girl, but definitely gender specific. I don't want to go crazy with any themed bedding or accessories. I'd like to do a nighttime/stars theme for either sex.

  • I voted gender specific, but only for things I will not be reusing for another child, ie all of the furniture, swings, strollers (I know strollers aren't in a nursery, but still) will be gender neutral.  So really, the only gender specific stuff we'll have is bedding and wall decals....and maybe curtains, but those would stay in the room as LO gets older, until they can declare that they want something new.

I love night time/star/moon themes! Our nursery has stars and moons with sleeping animals stenciled around the top of the walls. That's about as far as the theme goes though.

  • Why just for FTMs? I'm a STM so I didn't vote, but I'm planning a gender specific nursery for this one (as I did with DD). We're Team Green this time around, so I'm planning on designing two nurseries and will execute after baby is here.

  • When I was a FTM we did a neutral nursery and I added things just for the baby, large photo of her, name letters on the wall, etc. that I switched out when DS took over the room.

  • I am a STM, but I am so excited about the nursery! We are team green so it will be gender neutral. I have already started buying stuff for it!

We'll be gender neutral (like the rest of the house). For us, both gender-specific, or overtly baby/kid decor/themes are not preferred.

ETA: I've still been known to "ohhh" and "ahhh" over other folks über gender-specific nurseries. It's just NMS. I can't wait till we get to a point (many months from now) where we can share nursery pics.

  • I had an ultrasound this week and my doctor said she saw a penis. I'm not counting on it but if it is a boy it will have Florida gator orange and blue room. Pottery barn has alligator bedding i like and i would get the bed skirt custom made. A girl it would be girly but there are too many cute choices

  • I want to do a gender neutral theme as well, mostly because I'm not a big fan of things that are girly.  I'm hoping to do a turtle theme, probably featuring Crush from Finding Nemo, but I'm not sure how I'll pull that off.  I might ask one of the art teachers at my school if they'll come and paint for me (I'd pay of course).

    But we'll see.

  • We are team green so it'll be neutral until babe gets here then will have some specific accessories/accents.

@VineyardMel I made a separate poll about nursery decorating for STMs because I figured not all of us STMs will redecorate. And then I made this one so the FTMs don't feel left out. :)

ETA: But I don't mind if you vote on this one too. ;)

  • With DS with a blue/sports themed nursery that easily transitioned into a big boy room (he is almost 3).

Before we found out we were having twins i wanted to be team green and had already planned a gender neutral nursery. Since finding out it is twins we are still team green.

Here is my 'inspiration" for their nursery.image

  • LO is going to have his/her own room, so I'll be decorating it specifically for him/her.  I didn't make a "nursery," the room DS came home to is the room DS will have for the rest of his time in our house.  We have 4 bedrooms, so there's no need to keep switching.

  • This is going to be my only child so I will do boyish/girlish themes.

  • We knew we'd have ours close together, so we did neutrals for DS. The nursery is green.
  • We are planning a tropical theme because H loves Lilo and Stitch. We got a beautiful print of Stitch reading the Ugly Duckling at Disneyland that will be the inspiration. It won't be too themed (assuming I can control myself) but fun beachy, Hawaiian, tropical. I figure we can make it girly by going more floral or boyish if it is more surfy.
